K-1 vs. K-3

Is is possible or even advisable to ditch this K-1 Visa process and, instead, have my Fiance come to Canada so we can get married and then apply for a K-3 Visa? I am really amazed at the possibility of being separated from my fiance for approx. 6 months.

So, what is the fastest way to get a visa, as a fiance or as a spouse? And, can I change more petition from K-1 to a K-3?

The K-1 is generally faster. With IMBRA it had thrown a spanner in the works for both K-1 & K-3 over the past months. They are both backlogged but there has been approvals from those recently filed as well as some of the backlog, so hang in there.

if you've already started the K1, then decide to scrap it and start over with the K3, you'll be apart now about a year.

Just finish what you started and wait on the K1.

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post.

I truly appreciate all your words of wisdom and support at this very trying time. I'm sure I will have some more rambles in a very short time (as I am not the most patient person when it comes to things like this - i.e. I like to feel a small amount of control over my own destiny, and not the government) but I just wanted to say thank you. While it is sad to say, at least we are not alone in this process and hopefully everything will get better soon.

Good luck to you all!
