We sent our RFE reply on friday and we havent heard anything from USCIS yet. I just feel like giving up this process :(

It's only Wednesday. Keep in mind it was a three-day weekend.

Quick question, Nate: Did you wait for packet three to find out your interview date, call or email?

(thanks everyone for the congratulations)

Yeah, 2 months isn't great, but it's not so bad either in the grand scheme of things i guess. After it makes it out of the service center, things are much more comforting because you know exactly where your case is and what's happening to it. Oh and, you're welcome! Hopefully your NOA2 comes soon!

Nope. After i received the letter from NVC with our case number, i waited about a week then e-mailed the embassy to see if they received it. I received a response (an e-mailed response) 2 days later from a rep saying they did not, and i should try again in 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks went by, i e-mailed them again, but this time the rep replied that they have received our package, and he gave us the interview time and date. She hasn't received her packet three yet to my knowledge. Now that you mention it, i do wonder when she will receive that. :)

Cool!

I'll just do what you did. I imagine she'll be receiving her packet any day now. Where does she live? Mail is ridiculously slow in Russia so any city that is not called Moscow will require an additional week at least.

She lives in Izhevsk. I totally agree that mail appears to be very slow there. Whenever i send her anything at all, it usually takes 4 weeks to arrive at her doorstep. Izhevsk is a lot smaller than Moscow, but i've definitely learned how to give the Russian postman an extra week or two cushion for delivering packages lol.

What city does your fiance live in?

Yeah, I would definitely give it another week or so to Izhevsk. My fiancee lives in St. Petersburg...not too far from Moscow but I know to give the mail an additional few days even to there. She used to live in Novosibirsk and mail from Piter to Novosib takes a week to 10 days.

Mail from here (San Diego) to Piter takes 14-16 days.

Is it really normal for the petitioner to call NVC after 2 weeks of receiving the NOA2? Or the case number will also be mailed to the petitioner?

You can call if you'd like. Getting the case number early will allow the beneficiary to start the medical and police checks. (Some of those may want/need the case number.)

It will be mailed to you as well, though.

Thanks Kiwibird! My fiance was able to get through last night and the case number was provided to him. I am not sure though if he was able to asked when the case was shipped to the embassy here in the Philippines because he just emailed the case number and didnt bother calling me since was asleep already. If he was not able to get the date when it was shipped out is there a way to know or track the packets?

Nice! Glad they were able to give you your NVC case number over the phone. I kept calling the automated line to hear that my packet was not received.

When I got home though... I had a letter waiting that said not only had they received the packet, but had already forwarded it to the embassy. The problem is... my fiancee's address is tough for them to find so she has not yet received her packet 3. I'm hoping this is something the lawyer can put together, as she is going to be helping her fill it out anyway.

My fiancee goes to Bangkok on the 3rd to get the medical done and hopefully the police certificate (crosses fingers).

Good luck!

Yes, you can track your package if you know approximately when NVC shipped the package. If, for instance, they said that they shipped it today (March 1, 2011), you will input the following on their tracking page (http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef)

1. Reference: EXP 28 FEB 2011A (or try it tomorrow by putting in EXP 01 MAR 2011A)

2. Shipment pickup date range: select from Feb 28 to Mar 1 (or you can select a wider range)

3. Click "Track" to see the search results.

Hope this helps..
