That's... odd. I never included that on my letter of intent. It simply said we were legally willing and able to get married once in the United States. Why does it matter which state it would be in?

Technically we're cousins through our Grandfathers by marriage which makes us second cousins. I only know because I specifically asked her to find out when I was filling out the application (our parents grew up together so I knew there was a cross-over somewhere). My guess is USCIS wants to make sure it's legal for us to marry in my state.

I, personally, would send it back in the envelope provided. Especially if it has any information or bar codes on it. You should still be able to overnight it and signature confirm it and all that fun stuff. It might have something on it to make it back to your caseworker faster once it's there, right? Good thing it's an easy fix, you're almost there!

I'm relieved and annoyed at the same time. Relieved that I won't have to deal with the mess of getting some form signed by my fiancee and brought here, yet annoyed that our petition was delayed for something this simple :P

Trying to stay positive that this journey is almost over, but it's hard when dealing with a consulate like Montreal. I filed last August and I likely won't get an interview date until June. They haven't logged my Packet 3 (that I know of) and the earliest interview date is May 31st so far ... ugh I can't believe this process will take nearly a year. Oh well, what can ya do.

I was doing some research to figure out if my fiancee needed to fill out the DS-156 or DS-160 (I read somewhere a couple weeks ago that Sudan still used the DS-156) and discovered that the Embassy of Khartoum in Sudan isn't actually processing K1 visas according to this. The K1 is a non-immigrant visa but they don't consider it to be one, so where do they refer these? Cairo! Which as of two days ago suspended their consular services so they aren't conducting interviews. :crying:

I emailed the Embassy in Khartoum to get their take on it and see if they'll be able to process the visa since the Embassy in Cairo is pretty much shutdown.

11-04-2011 sent AOS to Chicago lockbox

11-07-2011 delivered

11-08-2011 Date on text messages but did not receive until 11-22-2011

11-23-2011 Check cashed.

11-25-2011 Hard copies of NOA1s

12-06-2012 Pui's Brother unexpectly passes away and we make an info pass appointment and receive an emergancy AP so she can return home. Pui leaves for Thailand for 2 weeks.

12-06-2012 Get a text message and email that she received an RFE

12-12-2012 RFE for original birth certificate. I swear we sent it along with a certificate translation of it.

12-20-2012 Pui returns from Thailand.

12-21-2012 We send the RFE back for with original birth certificate along with a new certificate of translation(I had to wait for her to return for her to sign)

12-26-2012 text and email they have received the RFE.

12-29-2012 Appointment for biometrics is 01-23-2012

01-13-2012 AP is approved.

01-23-2012 Biometrics appointment. Later during the evening the text and email saying the EAD is approved.

01-31-2012 EAD/AP combo card arrives.

05-22-2012 Email and text card is in production!
