So now that I've got it (OMG still can't believe I'm out of the CSC hahahaha) how long until / when should I contact the NVC? I'm still waiting on my hard copy. I received my text and email yesterday.

I called about four or five business days later.

Not more then 15 minutes ago I received an email from USCIS!

Sadly it's not an approval rather an RFE, for what I have no idea as I included everything they could possibly want

Well, I guess this is good and bad news. :( Sorry it's not an approval, but at least you know your petition is on somebody's desk. I am sure the RFE will be something easy to fix and the delay will be short!

My best guess is they want additional proof for the affidavit of support (I thought was only for the interview) because I only included the offer later from my current job. Was hoping I could submit my 2010 tax return and give them that as last year I bungled my W2 and ended up owing ~3k

I don't think they would ask anything related to your Affidavit of Support. You have probably forgotten to check a box.. or maybe they need more evidence of your relationship.. or you forgot to sign somewhere. =) I think it's good news that you got at least some answer (well, it would have been better if there were no RFE).

Good luck! And hopefully after you send back what they need, you will get your long-waited approval!

It shouldn't be anything about your affidavit of support, I didn't include anything in my I-129F about that and I was fine. It is later at the interview that they will look at that. It's prolly something real simple- maybe using an expired form like I did? Lots of silly little things it could be. Most likely it will be fixed up real soon and you'll be on your way with NOA2 in hand in a couple weeks. We'll be thinking good thoughts for you!

Yeah you're right. I was thinking over it today and it might be my Fiancees letter of intent as when I emailed her the document (I used the VJ template) I mistyped her name and instead of correcting it then printing it, she printed it out then crossed it out and wrote her name.

When I was there in December I brought a full copy of the visa packet and a corrected letter which she signed but I didn't take a copy back with me. If USCIS wants that then I'll have to have her scan the one she has and email it to me.

Might be worth it to have her print out a new one, sign it, and then mail it to you. I've always heard to give them originals with real signatures on it for the Letter of Intent. (I could be wrong though.)

If she does that now, then it'll save time to get it to you before you get your RFE paperwork. Good luck! :)

I wish she could mail it but she's over in Sudan where the mail system is hell. Her only choice is to use DHL which will run us ~$110. I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2 just to verify the address it's being sent to (mine). They told me I should receive it tomorrow or early next week so I'll find what they really want then :)

Edit: Last time around when we were putting the packet together we tracked down a guy who was in Sudan coming back to the city I live in, she gave it to him and he brought it.

Received the RFE today. The Request is pertaining to the Intent to Marry, question is "Which state does the petitioner and beneficiary intend to marry in (for example, California)?".

I feel stupid for having not mentioned this in the letter of intent I sent in. I'm going write up a letter and send it overnight to them but they sent me an envelope, do I have to use that?
