Throughout this thread actually.

Nowhere in this thread (or anywhere) have I said someone has the right to kill someone else because they disagree with their opinion.

I have said, repeatedly, we retain our rights to overthrow a tyrannical govt. and defend our homes and families against criminals.

Once again, Al-Qaeda is technically a militia that basically disagree with the government. Therefore, had they been American citizens, evidently, you would then agree with them killing people because they - the militia - disagrees with the government.

Ahh so you are planning for the case where a coup decides to take over right. Contrary to popular belief in your circle of friends, no one in the educated world is planning any takeover.

A takeover would be really hard with an armed populace.

In fact, the only people who are likely to try something like that, is folks like you. It's logistically impossible for any sort of coup in a country the size of the US.

Quite the opposite, actually.There are over 80 million gun owners in the US yet only about 1.5 million in the NRA and that's the largest gunrights group out there.

By all means, you are correct that gun owners don't agree on everything. However, they do agree on one thing.

you're missing one of the biggest maxims of warfare - you don't own land until you have troops on it. you can fly over it, throw missiles at it, but until you have boots on the ground - it's not yours.

I wouldn't expect civilians to understand this. To them, (and Australians)it's a foreign concept.

1. Make a country safer
   
2. Protect against foreign armies
   
3. Ensure a free and democrat government

It is not necessary tp take over in an armed coup. It is necessary to prevent the government from taking over us. THAT it could do.

Silly argument anyway. 2nd amendment is settled law. You don't have to like it, that is the best part.

There has been a lot of silly talk by anti-gun types, there always is, they can;t defend their ideas so they veer off into nuclear weapons and government takeovers. We do not need to take over the government, we already ARE the government. We need guns to make sure it stays that way.

Incidentally for the uniformed that babble unintelligibly about "hollow points"...some facts

1. Hollow points are used in all match rifle ammunition and have been for many decades. The hollow nose shifts the center of gravity to the rear and increases the ballistic coefficient making it easier to shoot accurately at long ranges

2. Hollow points used for hunting non-edible animals (pest control, etc.) are safer because they disintegrate upon impact with the ground and do not richochet off to injure someone or something else

3. Hollow points used by police do not over-penetrate and cause danger to bystanders

4. hollow points used for self defense increase the wound capacity and increase the chance of ending threats to ones life.

5. Hollow points are specifically NOT recommended for dispatchiung rampaging mosse in Vermont. They would never have the penetration needed on a large animal like a moose. For them I keep the .375 loaded with a stiff soft nose bullet designed to hold together andpenetrate. Actually the .375 is behind the kitchen door to protect against elephants, have you ever seen what they can do to a flower garden?
