talk about personalizing - as the article specifically cites the ar-15 quite a few times, it sure seems to me that you think i didn't read it....

you'll find that assault rifle has no clear cut definition. even that wiki link excludes my ar-15, which many nuts like to call an assault rifle.

The definition is clearly evident. General masses just don't understand and the Feds increased confusion with their use of the term "assault weapon" which the AR-15 is under their definition. It's the same way with magazines and clips. Seriously, how many movies and people have you seen that call a magazine a clip?

problem is there isn't really a legal definition of an assault rifle. i've seen people call a souped up mini-14 an assault rifle - and the media makes matters worse with labeling anything a "high powered rifle" or "assault rifle"

on the clips versus magazines - they don't know the difference between the two and it's a shame.

my dad used to get spun up when people would call a .410 a gauge

Yeah I guess, throw in the term full auto and machine gun and things can really get crazy.

Oh I got a souped up Mini-14 that the State of California calls an assault weapon. Never mind that the accuracy on it is so bad that I would be better off throwing it at the person.
