I was just going to ask about this! We got our bio appt letter today, scheduled for November 18. Does Alexandria generally do OK for walk-ins? Any tips? (i.e. "show up before 11" or "don't go on Wednesday")

08/20/10 - Day 8 - Electronic (E-mail/SMS) confirmation of acceptance/NOA issued for I-130, I-485, I-765

10/09/10 - Day 58 - EAD (I-765) case visible online, others still not showing up.

10/21/10 - Day 70 - Spoke to 2nd-tier support, got a "referral" opened on the biometrics appointment (as in, why isn't there one yet?)

10/29/10 - Day 78 - Biometrics appt letter received (scheduled for November 18 in Alexandria)

11/04/10 - Day 84 - Successful Walk-In Biometrics at Alexandria, VA

11/04/10 - Day 84 - Email/SMS notice of "Card Production Ordered"

11/09/10 - Day 89 - Email/SMS notice of "Card Production Ordered" (same text, same everything, just a second notice)

Well, if biometrics is between you getting the EAD then they'll make sure you get that. Your objective is EAD, which is what you should emphasis on when speaking to the Congressman personnel. I would

Received fancy EAD card and AP papers in the mail today. EAD card came in an envelope that looked like it was from a credit card company, no USCIS label or anything, so don't throw away supposed junk

Well, we finally received our Bio letter in the mail yesterday for 11/15 appointment :thumbs: . We are in the Wahington, DC/Alexandira area and hopefully walk-in is accepted (few VJers indicated before). It took over 2 months to get this letter and it is finally here. Hopefully thing will go faser from here on and good luck to everyone.

Good luck! We also just received our bio letter for an appointment on 11/16 in Alexandria and are hoping to have luck with a walk-in as well. Appointment is currently when hubby is supposed to be teaching a class but we don't want to reschedule and risk slowing the case down more than it already has been. We also hope things progress more quickly from now on.

I am the US citizen, my hubby is the applicant.

Wow, they must have sent them all out at once!! Good luck to anyone attempting the walk-in, keep us posted on how it goes! We will probably be trying on Tuesday.

Does USCIS send an email when they send out the interview letter? Or is there another way to know when they send it? I wouldn't want to find out that my AOS was denied for not showing up at the interview because the letter was lost or sent somewhere else.

The only notice of any kind you get is the letter in the mail.

Well, we went to the Alexandria office around 9:45 this morning to attempt a walk-in ... No problem! About 10 people there, they glanced at the letter, gave my husband te paperwork to fill out and took him back immediately. Very friendly! Good luck to anyone attempting a walk-in!

Does anyone who has already gotten their social security number know if you get your number the same day you go into the office? I know you don't get the actual card the same day- but were they able to tell you what your number is?

I was able to successfully walk-in for my biometrics at the Charlotte office. There was one person there waiting when I stopped by around 2 p.m. The service was great.

To my surprise, I got a text about 20 minutes after I left the building telling me that my I-765 case status had been updated. I ran to the nearest computer and it now shows that the EAD has been sent to production!

My I-485 is also finally showing up online (saying that it was touched today).

Whoever says walking-in doesn't speed up your case is full of it.
