I have never read about a VJer who attempted a biometrics walk-in before receiving the appt letter, however, if you are really anxious, you might try walking-in with only the hard copies of the NOA1, because those have your case numbers and Alien number, which is what you need for the form that you fill out when you get there. The appt letter has the address of the Application Support Center, so since you would be going before you receive that letter, you would need to look up where the closest one is. You can do that here: https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC

Keep in mind that there does not seem to be a concensus on VJ about whether having the biometrics done early actually speeds up your case. One VJer wrote that he spoke to USCIS officer once who told him that it could actually slow down your case. However, I would think that it would potentially speed up your case because I doubt they would send you an interview appt before you have completed your biometrics, nor would they approve you at CSC before your biometrics is complete. So although it's good to get it out of the way, we don't know for sure if doing so will move your case to the next step of the process any quicker.

Thank you for the info! I really appreciate it. I will probably wait until I have the bio appointment letter. More than anything, I want to speed up the AP process...I think I read somewhere that the AP process also speeds up (or is likely to speed up) if you do walk-in biometrics.

Feb 07, 2015: Received Oath Appointment Notice. Oath date: Feb 13, 2015.

Feb 13, 2015: Oath taken. Received Naturalization certificate. Became a US Citizen!

Mar 10, 2011: First RFE from the CSC. They lost my I-693! Had to re-do it.
Apr 15: Another RFE from the CSC. Bona fide marriage evidence. We provided the requested documents.
Sept 03: Received Interview Appointment Notice. Interview scheduled for September 27. Finally!
Sept 27: We had our interview. Very easy straight forward questions. Officer needed further processing for our case.
Jan 05, 2012: Case status update - Decision: Approved.
Jan 09: Received letter in the mail with Notice of AOS Decision: Approved.
Jan 10: Case status update - Card Production Ordered.
Jan 13: Green card arrived in the mail. Done with AOS!

Hello everyone. I am brand new to VJ. I wish everyone a fast and painless process.

My situation is as follows:

Aug 12: Entered US in K1 visa.

Aug 13: Married.

Aug 16: Sent AOS, AP & EAD package by Fedex to the Chicago S. Dearborn St. address. (Took the risk of not sending an I-693, only sent DS-3025, it did have the checked mark for completed vaccionations. I hope I don't get an RFE for the I-693. :))

Aug 17: Fedex confirmed they had delivered the package.

Does anyone know if it is possible to be succesful at a walk-in biometrics WITHOUT having received the letter for the biometrics appointment (or not even the e-notification for the biometrics appointment), but having received the letter of NOA1(not that I have received it, but just wanted to know)?

When you get to the office they'll ask for your appointment letter and your ID.

I doubt that you'll get it done without the letter but you can always try :)

Oh, ya you are difinitely right!! They do scan the barcodes.

I forgot that part...

I guess it's smart to listen finallyfree and wait till you get your letter.

We have sent the package on the 10th of August. Today is the 19th, but as of yet we haven't received any email/text from USCIS. Just getting a slight bit worried, because I have to expedite my AP :-( Even if there is a problem with my application, how soon would I know about it?

Aah well, that's where I got my forms from ... i think that's a good news! :D Well, i had downloaded the form by 15th of July. Hopefully they were the latest ones! Any updates on that?

Mine was received (130/485 concurrent at Chicago lockbox) on the 13th, and nothing yet. It's kinda killing me. I mean, I know better than to hope for the gov't to hurry up at ANYTHING, but I'm not enjoying the wait at all.

I have filed for 130/485 concurrently too, and haven't heard back anything as yet. Are you both adjusting from B1/B2 visa? Let us hope for the best, and I think tomorrow something should positively happen! Do keep us posted.

Hello All,

I guess i'm joining the August filers.

Mailing our I-130/1485/I765 Tomorrow 8/20.

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to send personal checks. I called them and the recorded live human, was unable to clarify it for me.
