Not yet, I thought the Congressman would solve this. I will call his office again this morning and see if they did anything at all. Then in case I'll also schedule an infopass. All this made even easier by the fact that without documents I cannot even get a driver's license and drive around...

I am losing my patience, I tried calling USCIS but hang up before talking to the an IO as I know they are just going to tell me that I need to wait the 30 days after a service request was placed. I placed that on the 17th of September and still no biometrics appointment.

The congressman personnel informed me last week that they had some correspondence with USCIS but I haven't heard anything from them since.

I don't even know if an info pass appointment will make much difference. Seems like a lost cause

I would suggest to keep calling the congressman's office instead. we have understood that USCIS does not give any information (at least any useful one) through the phone.

Some members said that their representative solved their problem within a few days: that means that they CAN do something. Insist calling, usually the squeaky wheel is given more attention than the noiseless one, if you know what I mean.

My Call to USCIS this afternoon

hi, so I called them. Talked to a guy. Gave him our 2 case numbers

1) AOS-- looked up our local office (Des Moines, IA) said they're currently interviewing those from March 27/2010.

He said we're getting an interview since Family AOS is dealt w/ the local offices and we aren't getting transfered.

2) EAD-- Said it went to the National Benefits Center and right now they're taking 3 months to process.

Looks like a lot of us, August filers, are waiting to receive our biometrics appointment notice! We are trying our Congressman's office for help as well with the job offer argument so we can expedite the EAD...Seems like they are willing to help. We faxed them the documents: job offer, NOA 1 for AOS and EAD, and letter explaining the situation. We called them and they said to wait for a written response in the mail. I guess that is all we can do for now. Also I am worried beacause the AP case status (and EAD case status) are still unavailable on-line (or by phone), all the IO from the customer service 1-800 number can say is that the cases were received and everything is OK. That's it! We really need the AP soon. Does it matter if the AP case status is still unavailable on-line? Or the time-frame to get the AP document is the same regardless if the case status is available?

Good luck everyone! (We really need it this time!)

Since you are filing AOS from K1, there is a good chance that you will be transferred to CSC and may not have an interview. But even if you do, I can't imagine it taking more than 90 days from the AOS filing date, to get the interview. NYC is one of the busiest place and last I checked NYC is interviewing IR1 cases from July 2010, he might be referring to some other category and no Marriage Based.

Yah, but he (USCIS guy) referred to it as a Family Based Visa section that was currently in March 2010---the K1 is considered that

not to contradict the USCIS guy or to be offensive in any way, but how many family based AOS interviews will there be in Des Moines, Iowa?

does that office have competence over other areas other than Des Moines? Maybe if it covers other parts of the Midwest, there could be more applications pending. I figured that up there USCIS doesn't have much to do.
