That's fabulous! Wow and quick too - hope mine's as fast. Yes, I believe your EAD is in the mail...Your case is proof that an early biometrics walk-in does speed things up, I'd say.

Well, actually the reason for it being processed super quick was my expedite request - through the congressmen's office! And i guess the EAD card is in the mail, as I found out through other timelines in different threads. You could always try an expedite yourself. Good luck with your walk-in tomorrow

Hi, all

Just read a news from the paper saying that USCIS stopped issuing green card from Sept.16 ~ 30th,

because the G/C quota of 2010 have been used up. They will start issuing G/C from Oct. 1st.

Hope this doesn't delay our G/Cs..

Sonblom, I don't think they'll turn you away, and you can especially use the excuse that it's hard to get your family together for something like this (different schedules bla bla bla).

But if they do turn you away, make sure you ask when do they have a lighter schedule. Most of the guys at the ASC are nice enough to tell you.

Thanks Kat - it actually is quite a pain taking one kid out of school early and making my son drive the 2 hours home from college...so maybe we'll get lucky. I have a knot in my stomach this early - hate to think what I'll be like before the interview when that finally happens lol

Family greencards cannot be used up. There is not a limit on them. They article was probably about other kinds of greencards.

I got a e-mail from the USCIS saying "on September 23, 2010, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION as undeliverable" I got a similar email for the AOS too.

I was shocked coz I am sure that I have given a correct address to the USCIS. Even y NOAs have the correct address on them.Then I called the 800 number which was of no use as usual then I requested to talk to the second level customer service.

The agent confirmed that USCIS made a typo error in the address and shortened my appartment number by 2 digits grrrrr

Now looks like they are going to re send the post.

I have no clue on what the post is about. appointment letter for biometrics? if so do we get two appointment letters? one for EAD and one for AOS? I am asking this because both my EAD and AOS were updated saying "n September 23, 2010, the post office returned the notice we last sent you on this case"

I seriously do not want to miss my biometrics because of a typo error by USCIS

Try asking for a second level customer service.. you may need to hold on the line for 45 mins but they will give you more information atleast

Yippee!! We successfully attempted a walk-in for Biometrics today at the Taylorsville ASC. They were extremely helpful and let us right in. There were four of us (hubby, two sons and myself) so I almost expected to be turned away. But the place was entirely empty. The center here is so much less intimidating than I thought it would be - just a simple large room and office type setup. We were the only people there and it took less than 30 min for all of us to be processed. My husband talked with the lady who took his fingerprints and she told him that we had just missed the rush. She mentioned that all appointments are on the hour so you have a much better chance of getting in if you arrive at 15 or 20 minutes to or past the hour. We got there at 1:15 today (a Friday) and were out of there by 1:45pm. If anyone is considering a walk-in, I'd say do it! Totally unintimidating and nothing at all to be nervous about - honestly.

Timeline:

8/27 - Mailed AOS & EAD packet

9/2 - Received at USCIS

9/14 - NOA1 hardcopies received

9/23 - Biometrics Appointment Notices received. Appointment set for 10/14

9/24 - Biometrics walk-in attempt successful

My EAD Card arrived in the mail today So - a total of 45 days from mailing the documents, and 30 days from NOA text/email.

But - I presume I need to have a social security card to have a Driver's license issued. I went to the SSA Office, and was informed it may take 2-3 weeks if there is no verification required, or otherwise a total of 4-6 weeks. Does anyone know more about this? And is there a way I can get my driver's license without a SSN?

Any advice would be great! Thanks.
