Sent my AOS package on 19th Aug 2010 and was delivered in Chicago Lockbox on 20th Aug 2010. No text/email yet as of today... hopefully soon. I didnt see this thread so i started one in the AOS family base forum. I'll ask the other members to post here instead.

08/03/2010 - Sent AOS Package

08/05/2010 - Delivered at Chicago Lockbox (Day-3)

08/14/2010 -return outdated form

08/16/2010 - send AOS package again

08/27/2010 - Checks Cashed

08/xx/2010 - NOA1 Emails/Text

08/xx/2010 - NOA1 Hardcopy

Hello everybody,

Timeline update:

Aug 12: Entered US in K1 visa.

Aug 13: Married.

Aug 16: Sent AOS, AP & EAD package by Fedex to the Chicago S. Dearborn St. address.

Aug 17: Fedex confirmed they had delivered the package.

Aug 25: Received emails and sms texts that my AOS, EAD and AP applications have been received and routed to the National Benefits Center for processing. 3 different Receipt Numbers were issued, all 3 numbers start with the letters: MSC...

Aug 26: Check cashed (but on the back of the check it had a different MSC number than the 3 numbers I received by email/sms texts). I hope it doesn't mean bad news.

I just checked status in the uscis.gov website with the 4 receipt numbers I have (3 from emails/sms texts and 1 from back of check) and they have not updated the website with any of those.

Got my hard copies in the mail yesterday... Still nothing online!

We mailed our package on Aug. 25 and it was delivered (UPS tracking) yesterday Aug. 27.

Successful walk-in biometrics at Woodside, NY. I was prepared if they had pushed back for coming in 3 weeks early but it went smoothly. Guard asked if I had an appointment for today and I nodded. He didn't look at the letter and asked to fill the form. Took about 7-10 mins for the whole process.

what is the advantage of walk-in biometrics before the scheduled date? does it speed up the process somehow?

Empirical evidence suggests that it does: I know two people who walked in weeks ahead of their scheduled times and received their EAD (and AP) approval BEFORE the original biometrics date... Others, not so lucky

nice, I'll keep this in mind. when would it be ok to walk in? just right after receiving the NOA1? I barely sent out my docs a couple of days ago so I'll still have to wait a few days, but I'd like to do it as soon as I can.

Nope - you have to wait for the biometrics letter. That'll follow a couple weeks +- after the NOA1.

while waiting for AOS update .. my mind is going through this biometrics thing. my questions are:

1. Where should we go for biometrics ?

2. How many Biometrics appoinments? applied for AOS with EAD and AP

3. When is the best time to do it?

USCIS sends you a letter telling you when and where to go to biometrics. There will be only one done for both EAD and AOS. AP doesn't need one.

1) Your local USCIS office. Some states have one for the whole state, some have several. Your biometrics letter will tell you where to go.

2) As amy said, just one for AOS/EAD/AP if you applied together. If you applied for your EAD separately (and paid the $340 fee), you might have a second biometrics appointment.

3) The best time is to walk in if your office allows walkins. Mine does, but bitches about it.

Thanks. Guard took the letter, asked me to take a seat and then brought the letter along with the form for me to fill out.

No infopass appointment is needed for walk-in biometrics. People who do biometrics (ASC) are not in the same department I think.

got NOA1 hard copy,,,i think its last thursday or last friday arrived in the mailbox,,,Just check today in the mailbox as were out of town,,,waiting for biometric appointment ..i hope soon,,,,,,,,,,,
