Post containing obscenities in German and Latin - even if it is Catullus (Carmen 16, especially the first line, is renowned as one of the most obscene pieces of literature even for a poet who used it often) - has been removed. Posting obscenities and swear words in other languages are still not allowed and violate TOS.

Is it ok to post them in English?

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

There is a great love of the classics on VJ, at least by me - I did my Honours BA in Classical Studies which included several years of Latin and Greek. I read Catullus in the original and even then this particular poem was treated very carefully. Latin can be an incredibly explicit language in these matters and Catullus used it very well. Even though it is a piece of classical literature, its publication here on VJ is still a violation of TOS.

I would be pissed too if I had to read that.

Oooooh, me too Doris. Also could deal with that steely gaze.

Status: need to do TWO sets of minutes in the next 24 hours. I hate listening to a recording of myself on a phone call. I sound like the ####### child of Thurston Howell III and Cher Horowitz.

It's important to stay hydrated.

I have no gin. And Bombay Sapphire is my top tipple too.crying.gif

I have promised myself a beer at the end of this. I still have ten minutes of listening to myself droning on about a stupidbloodyuseless meeting in San Francisco I am organising, and that will probably be painful for me. And then I need to type all this sh!t up, do an agenda and mail all this cack out before 10am London time (fast approaching).

Oh, and my manicure is all chipped now but I haven't done anything about fixing this issue. Grrr.mad.gif
