Hey guys...

One more update! Missuzu got her approval on November 4, she entered the US (I was with her) on December 27, and we got married on December 28! We are very happy!

Now we are finishing up the documentation for the I-485. I just have a few questions for y'all:

  1. So the $1010 fee covers the I-485, biometrics, I-765, and I-131 as long as I file all those forms together?
  2. Missuzu's DS-3025 says "incomplete" because some of the vaccinations are not applicable for her age... Does that mean that we still have to get certfication from a civil surgeon?
  3. What's the correct code for the Form I-765? (a)(6) for K1 visa holder, or ©(9) for adjustment of status applicants?
  4. What if we want the authorization to travel, but we really don't have a specific trip planned? It seems like the Form I-131 expects a set travel itineraty.
  5. If Form I-485 requires two passport photos and Form I-131 also requires two photos, does that mean we have to send 4 photos even though we are sending both petitions together?

Thanks in advance...

Norm

Dec. 28, 2009... NOA 1

Dec. 31, 2009... Touched

May 12, 2010... Nice guy at the USCIS mercifully sent a Service Request to the VSC to inquire about our petition

May 27, 2010... Received an e-mail stating that the VSC received the Service Request. Unfortunately, the e-mail also states that the processing time for service requests is 3 MONTHS!!

June 28, 2010... Heard from my senator that the USCIS is going to send me a RFE on July 1 asking for a certified copy of my birth certificate. Why do they have to wait until July 1 to ask for this??

July 13, 2010... Received an e-mail from the VSC explaining the delay in processing our petition. Apparently, the USCIS had put on hold all petitions from US citizens born with Puerto Rican birth certificates (like me). On July 1, USCIS headquarters finally gave clearance for these petitions to be processed.

July 26, 2010... Touch

July 27, 2010... Received text message and e-mail stating that our petition was approved on July 26!! We finally received our NOA 2!!

July 31, 2010... NVC received our approved petition

August 2, 2010... Received paper copy of our NOA2

August 4, 2010... Received letter from NVC confirming receipt of our approved petition

August 13, 2010... US embassy in Brazil received the approved petition

August 23, 2010... Missuzu received Packet 3/4

October 19, 2010... Interview... VISA APPROVED!!!

November 4, 2010... Missuzu received her passport with visa

December 27, 2010... POE... Houston, Texas

December 28, 2010... We got married!

Norm,

Congrats on your marriage!!

1. Yes, the $1010 fee covers them all. Double check on the fee amount...I thought I saw a change in the amount.

2. Yes, you still need to visit a civil surgeon so they can fill out the I-693. Take the DS-3025 with you. You can download and fill out most of the form before the appointment.

3. C9

4. Make up a story and choose a date about 2-3 months from now, because there is no way that they can verify your story. There is a I-131 Supplement Part 7 form in Example Forms that you can use for your reason to travel.

5. Yes, actually I think you need 2 more photos for the I-765 for a total of 6.

Got my GreenCard today. They first sent it to the old address (The EAD got here fine. Who knows?), and now it got here late because of the snow/ice in Atlanta. The date on the card: 10/8/2010

I cannot believe it! They produce the card right after biometrics and then it just sits there??

GRRRR.

Oh well. Done till 2012, right?
