DS 230 question!

On question 35 regarding previous visits to the US, my husband wrote "Tourist" under "Type of Visa." Now...correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't he leave that blank (or write N/A)? He didn't actually apply for a visa, he was just here visiting. I'm thinking I should white that out before sending.

Also, just to check - on the I130, i gave my cell as my phone number, and he wrote my landline...I'm assuming that they need to match, am I right?

Thanks!

I would fill in any visits anyway. It is not exactly asking what visas you applied for but instead what visits you have made. If he was not required to have a visa to visit I would put the dates and N/A or None or VWP for the visa type. If I remember correctly, under the VWP UK citizens are not required to obtain a Tourist Visa, correct?

As far as the phone number, when you call NVC you can give them your phone number. When I called to request email communications I was asked for a phone number. And I had already entered it on my I-130 previously. NVC seems to be a little easier to deal with than USCIS was.

(before I get hundreds of replies about bad experiences with NVC, it is just my observation so far) :P

Oh, about using white-out... You should check the instructions to see if use of white-out is allowed. I don't know if it is or not but it could be something that would cause a problem if it is not allowed.

You could also just put both phone numbers. I gave them 2 of each phone numbers and email addresses for me, 1 being primary and 1 being secondary. For email communications they have been sending to both my primary and secondary addresses. It is not really necessary but if for some reason I'm not getting emails from them on 1 address I feel confident that I will get them on the other.

Well for the visa type, he wrote "tourist" so i'm concerned that he should have put n/a. as for the phone numbers, where/how would i fill in a second? i just don't want them to RFE me because there's a different number on the i130 and the other forms.

On my I-130 I had only 1 phone number. When I called NVC I added the second phone number and gave them 2 email addresses.

I understand your concern over RFE's but you are at the NVC stage now and I believe that the phone number difference will not be any problem. After all, both of the numbers are yours. Call NVC to get your NVC case number (when it is in their system), add your and his email addresses, ask for all future communications be by email and ask the operator to add your phone number.

I agree with you about the visa type, he should have been N/A because he did not have a Tourist Visa.

Have you seen the NVC link from Darnell? http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/221785-ds-3032-slowdown/page__p__3560467#entry3560467 It is very useful at this stage in your journey.

Did you send the DS3032 thru email or your wife to NVC? I'm still confused who can send this document. I don't think my parents know how to send an email, but can I email DS3032 on their behalf.

The DS-3032 is intended for the Beneficiary to fill in, sign and send in to NVC whether it be by email or regular mail.

I filled in the email format and emailed it to my wife who in turn forwarded it NVC from her email address.

The email format must be sent from the beneficiary's email address. To use the email format you must first call NVC and give them both Petitioner and Beneficiary email addresses.

If the Beneficiary for some reason can not email it, then your best choice would be to fill in all entries on the form (unless you are confident that they can do it correctly themselves), mail it to them to sign and place in an envelope and mail to NVC.
