Pregnant wife...

My wife is 2.5 months pregnant and she is working 50 hrs a week as a restaurant manager. I HATE the fact that she is on her feet about 10 hrs a day. It's just not good for her. I am still waiting for my EAD, since I had my Biometrics on June 28th (6 weeks). I realize it takes about 3 months to receive it, but does anyone know if it is possible to quicken the process by writing a letter to the USCIS explaining my situation? I really need to work for a fairly valid reason. I also understand that it wouldn't necessarily be fair for everyone else waiting for the same thing but I feel horrible about the situation. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic about the pregnancy and I can't wait to start a family with my wife. Please, if anyone knows if there's something I can do, let me know. Thank you.

Hmm, I don't think so. But maybe you could try and get an Infopass appointment? Maybe they'll give you a temp EAD??

Anyway, congratulations with your family being extended!:dance::dance:

I'm sure that'll help a lot at your AOS interview!

I very much think you're going to be out of luck, but if you live close for a quick InfoPass you won't lose anything by trying. I wouldn't drive three hours for it though, put it that way.

It sounds like given your timeline, you might not be too far off anyway - let's keep our fingers crossed, eh?!

Congratulations on the coming addition, and I hope you get your EAD soon.

Frndly1, the chances of this happening are hovering between "really, really unlikely" and "hahaha, that's a funny one".

This is why you are expected to have a cosponsor if you're not going to be able to support your immigrating partner. (Although I do accept that being pregnant is something of a different issue than being a lazy, unemployed bum!!)

umm.. please correct me if i'm wrong but the EAD 90 days waiting count from the day you recive NOA1 ?? not biometric???

Coz I didnt have my biometric until 90 days was up (from NOA) and I went to INFOPASS to get my temp EAD and also had my biometric that day (walk-in without appointment letters)

Correct me if i'm wrong :D

Make INFOPASS and find out .. GOOD LUCK!

Anya, it varies from DO to DO. Officially, the 90 days starts from the submission of a completed package. The issue arises in that some DOs don't consider a package "complete" until biometrics are done, to the best of my understanding.

Christina, I was being funny. I/We have been waiting our turn like good men and women should. But we are in a positition that my husbands unemployment has not been an issue for us to maintain a household because I was taking care of the household before he got here. I guess I am one of the luck ones.

My wife is pregnant. Not sure if it sped our process up or not, but make an Infopass appointment and explain the situation anyway. I found them to be really helpful when we had to interview in Oklahoma City instead of Boston.

Congratulations to you

Phew!

It amazes me the number of people who really don't think it through.... I mean, the poverty level is the poverty level, and it's not where you'd want to live given the choice.

Congrats on the new addition to your family. I highly doubt infopass would do anything but it's always worth a shot! She is only 2.5 months so working isn't hurting the baby (just tiring mommy) but I totally understand how you feel. This whole process is very frustrating for us when we want to help out our loved ones so bad and just can't do anything but watch tv for 4 months.

theresa, you can go to http://infopass.uscis.gov/ to make an appointment to speak with an immigration officer.

I wish you all the best and your ead shouldn't be too far away!
