Does anybody have the name/phone # of a translator in San Diego that can translate my birth certificate for the AOS and possibly won't rip me off?

I've tried to look around but those that I found ask A LOT of money.

In my city there is something called Catholic Charities. I don't know if they have it in your state, but they help with immigration for super low fees. They did my translation for free just because I showed up with my baby and they told me to spend it on her (LOL) and they revised all my immigration papers to make sure they were right for only $25.

You should see if that organization also provides help in your area, if not, you might look into similar organizations that will help immigrants with their paperwork =)

I checked online and I saw that they have an office just 10 minutes away from my house.

I translated mine.. if you are fluent in both languages (your language and english) you can do that.

I'm pretty sure it has to be certified. I am extremely fluent in Spanish and English, but I am not authorized to make "official" translations. I preferred to take it somewhere where someone else would stamp it as an oficial and legitimate translation than risking Immigration telling me the paper I sent them is not good enough.

same here, I could easily do it myself but I don't want to risk an RFE because of that. the problem is that a translator that I found wants $ 85 for a half-page birth certificate which basically says "born in ... on this day. father....; mother ....". ridiculous.

Translations: Any document containing a foreign language submitted to USCIS shall be accompanied by a full English language translation which the translator has certified as complete and accurate, and by the translator's certification that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English.
