I already posted a topic about this in another subforum, but now I am thinking that it was a wrong place. Anyway, I got this letter today, already called USCIS, blah blah, will have Infopass next week.

I do have a question about those letters though. Is it possible that my status in the system remained CR so they sent the letter? They also sent it to the old address, and we changed it a year ago! Too many what ifs right now... I just wonder if anybody had the same problem and could cheer me up with a happy ending.

Hi,

I am not sure about changing the status from CR or IR, but the address thing is not a big deal. Many people receive letters, including myself, to the old address even though I filed AR-11. They normally go by the address on the AOS application so you can ignore that completely.

Thanks! My 10 year green card also came to the old address, after filing AR-11 online, and after my husband sent the form himself as the petitioner. The thing is, we did not expect any letters like this because we do not have to lift the conditions. I got the new card with the IR status, valid till 2019, in June last year after filing I-90 and complaining about the administrative error. And the letter says that in their records, I am still a conditional resident! We are having an InfoPass appointment on Tuesday to clarify this. It is probably just another administrative error, but administrative errors can be very upsetting and lead to nervous breakdowns.

If you keep records of all this and you are planning to apply for naturalization, then I would suggest you let it go. You are giving up the GC once naturalized and if they say anything about it category, you can show them that you tried to fix the problem and the response was always an ignorant one. I am assuming you still have your old GC with the admin error and the new one.... then that should be enough to show them their mistakes.

I do not have the old GC because I had to send it back when applying for I-90. I do have a photocopy of it, the answer I got from District Director's office to apply for I-90, I have the receipt where it says that they received the I-90 application, then I have the letter (from Texas) where they say this : " Our records show that your authorized card was issued with incorrect information due to USCIS administrative error" and " We will issue you corrected card". The brand new letter that came from Vermont says : "The records of this service indicate that you entered the United states as a conditional permanent resident on ...date...Then it says that we must file I-751 or my status might be terminated. What they gonna terminate? IR1 status?

What can I say, I have a nice thick folder with all their letters. I am like a hamster when it comes to collecting papers and documents. I even have messages from this forum as the proof because I left my whole immigration history here. :)

It will all be ok. It is just such a nuisance, and I needed a good rant.

UPDATE

I went to the InfoPass today, they checked my status in the system and I am an unconditional permanent resident. I showed them the notice, and letter that came when I-90 got approved, and the woman asked me which letter came first :bonk:

She also asked me if those from Vermont knew about the I-90. (Well, I thought they did.)

Maybe I write a letter to Vermont people. Maybe I will just let the whole thing go.
