hey guys,

Just a quick question. Alright my fiance in the US is studying atm and not working, so we thought of using MY parents (who have their own green cards) as a co-sponsor. Is there any problem with this where my fiance hasnt earned any income? I know we would still fill out the forms for her, but just wondering if it would have a negative affect on getting our visa.

We got our NOA2 approval letter about a week ago now, so just waiting for the case to get here and for me to get the forms.

Thanks :)

For many Consulates/Embassies it is acceptable to use a joint sponsor. There are some Embassies that will not accept joint sponsors for a K-1 visa. I cannot see anyplace where the country of the fiance(e) is mentioned.

Only one of the parents can be a joint sponsor for a K-1 visa. Documents need to show the income of the mother OR the father, not both.

Good luck.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it required that the cosponsor be a U.S. citizen?

It can be a USC or LPR, as long as the person is legal. I was a joint sponsor for my brother. he was filing for my sister-in-law and my nephew. I was a LPR at that time and he had no problems.

Uh... sort of. A tourist is "legal". Someone working in the US with an H1 visa is "legal". However, they would not qualify as sponsors for an affidavit of support.

A sponsor must be a US citizen or LPR, and must be domiciled in the US.

Yeah, my parents have their green cards for about 3 or 4 years now and live permanently in texas. I guess its a bit of an unusual situation because my parents (the foreign fiance) live in the USA too. So from what I gather, it shouldn't be a problem that I use my father as a co-sponsor.
