hi all

I just got the work permit in the mail,I can finally get a job

I got a question, can you get a job only with the I-765, or only after you get an id?

I already have a ss#, and I want to apply for id next week I just don't know how long will it take to get the id and I want to get a job asap

What ID are you referring to? If you have your work permit card, then I would assume you are good to go as far as getting a job. I'm sure there will be others who are more informed than I am that will post an answer as well. Best of luck!

I want to get a pennsylvania id , I just have a romanian id and employers usually ask for id or driver licence(I think)

Not sure about Pennsylvania. Here in Georgia, I believe you can get a state ID for identification purposes only. My husband is having to wait til he has his EAD in hand before the state will issue him a driver's permit. You might do a search on your state's requirements. Best of luck to you. :)

EAD is a government issued ID. Your passport is a government issued ID as well. You should not have to wait for a state ID to get a job.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

hey anca,

i'm in philly too. should be no prob. just go to the dmv (NOT on mondays bc they are closed, and not on tuesday bc they are SWAMPED!) and show your EAD, SS card, passport and proof of residency (bills in your name). oh and your marriage certificate if your name has changed. you can always call them to make sure you have everything they require. try the one on island ave. they seem to be less jerky than some of the others. best of luck to ya! :thumbs:
