They want the I-134. Check out the VJ Guide to help you out. They give you a list of required forms.

Thanks much guys. I did read the guide - but then once reading the instructions for the I-134, i got lost! Yes profile is up to date, i should have added. tx again!

It does get a little confusing trying to keep track of all the forms. Good luck!

The guide is no longer accurate. I was not asked for the DS-156, but the DS-160. Wonder who we can advise to update?

However, the packet 3 will specifically mention which forms YOU require and provide a link on where to print them or fill them out.

See profile for our K-1 Visa/AOS story from 2010-2011Apparently we love USCIS/NVC so much we left and are doing it again! This time giving IR-1 a whirl. Rock on immigrators.

07/09/2014 sent in IR-1 packet to Chicago Lockbox

07/16/2014 NOA1

07/17/2014 check cashed by USCIS

10/01/2014 found out we are expecting baby #2 June 2015!

12/15/2014 NOA2

12/30/2014 Case received by NVC

03/23/2015 Received Case and Inv # from NVC after many calls and bogus excuses.

03/24/2015 AOS payment accepted by NVC

04/09/2015 IV payment finally accepted by NVC after the set the wrong fee and took weeks to correct it.

*many more delays thanks to the agency processing my fingers prints to the RCMP and the post office losing our mail*

05/20/2015 Packet sent to NVC via UPS, eta May 28.

06/16/2015 Baby #2 due - homebirth in Scottsdale, AZ

You're right, I didn't notice that.

Are people still being asked for the DS-156? Or is it entirely dependent on which country the foreign fiancée is in? I'm not nearly at that stage yet, but I like to be prepared.

In my packet 3 I was only asked for the DS-230 and DS-160... nothing else. The packet also says to fill out I-134 Affidavit of Support for the next packet/interview. No other forms. However someone who got a packet 3 just days before me was asked to fill out both DS-156/156K and DS-160. So maybe it depends on the couple?

I think some consulates are updating their forms. The DS-160 has the information repeated mostly from the DS156/156K. It seems that Montreal has updated their packet 3 letter, finally, to not be repetitive.

Maybe they are so behind schedule because they are trying to get used to write 160 instead of 156

When I went through Montreal last year they were just introducing the DS 160, which was supposed to *eventually* replace the DS 156. If you filled out both, you will notice right away that they are virtually the same thing and ask all the same questions. It's been over and year and people were still being asked to complete both, for some reason. Maybe they've finally decided that both forms aren't necessary! That's my guess.

But yeah, I-134 at the consulate stage and then the I-864 at the AOS stage :)
