OH MAN did I make a big mistake. I used the wrong Cover Sheet for my DS 230 Pkg. I used the one for the OAS pkg. When I was on the pay portal I clicked on the Cover Sheet link and printed out the coversheet that was there. I noticed the OAS was on it but just dismissed it as being typical government do as I say not as I do because the First part speaks of IV pakage and this was AOS.

Then I just received this email this evening from NVC with instructions on the DS-230 submitted. With it was another cover sheet that didn't look the same or have the same mailing info as the one I attached. The differences were minor granted but different. CMR vs CMR OAS and the zip code was slightly different also.

Well I panicked and CALLED NVC and got on relatively easy !!!!!!!!!!! Spoke to a real nice lady who was so helpful and informative. I told her I made a mistake and then told her what I did and she said if it had a bar-code on it then that was good enough and not to worry about it. She told me things a in overload now but the busy season should be over soon and things will speed up. I am just happy I didn't step all over myself trying to get through the door ...

Hello people,

In DS-230 form is it ok if we fill out some parts with a black pen and not type it ? Because in the address part i cannot type my whole address. So i m going to write there with a pen.

In Q 2 (other names used or Aliases ), i have written None. Is it right ?

For the part present occupation,If I m not involved in any occupation as such what should i write ?

In Q 31(a) and 31(b) (persons who will accompany you to the USA now and at the later date) i have written None. Is it right ?

In Q 33 (list all the educational institutions attended) Do i have to mention everything starting from the pre-primary stage, to school to college ?

I have only mentioned my university where i graduated. Or should i mention everything?

For mother's family name at birth, should i write her surname before her marriage ? If i write that then what should be written in her middle name.

Should be the name of her father or her husband.

These are the documents i will be attaching along with form.

 Bar-coded cover sheet

 Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (NVC Case Number, beneficiary’s name, and date of birth are written on back of both)

 DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary

 DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary – unsigned, as of yet, per instructions

 Photocopy of the Biographic Data Page(s) of Beneficiary’s Passport

 Original Birth Certificate of beneficiary and a photocopy

 Original Birth Certificate of Petitioner and a photocopy

 Original Marriage Certificate and a photocopy

 Original Passport Office Police Certificate for Beneficiary and a photocopy

 Original Police Clearance Certificate and a photocopy

Please advise

Thank you so much.

Hello people,

In DS-230 form is it ok if we fill out some parts with a black pen and not type it ? Because in the address part i cannot type my whole address. So i m going to write there with a pen. That's totally fine! I did the same.

In Q 2 (other names used or Aliases ), i have written None. Is it right ? Only if you have the same name as before you got married. If you're a women and changed your name you have to fill in your maiden name.

For the part present occupation,If I m not involved in any occupation as such what should i write ? Unemployed? If there is a date asked for, put the dates from when you've stopped working to PRESENT. It's important not to leave any "holes" in the dates.

In Q 31(a) and 31(b) (persons who will accompany you to the USA now and at the later date) i have written None. Is it right ? If you are the only one that's being petitioned for, then yes. If you had a child come with you, then you'd have to put their name.

In Q 33 (list all the educational institutions attended) Do i have to mention everything starting from the pre-primary stage, to school to college ? I started listing everything from High School on and got no RFE.

I have only mentioned my university where i graduated. Or should i mention everything? Everything, even if you didn't get a degree from a previous study program.

For mother's family name at birth, should i write her surname before her marriage ? If i write that then what should be written in her middle name.

Should be the name of her father or her husband. Did she have a middle name mefore her marriage? If not then just write N/A in the middle name box. And for the surname you write her family name before she got married.

 Original Birth Certificate of Petitioner and a photocopy I didn't even add that one...

 Original Marriage Certificate and a photocopy

 Original Passport Office Police Certificate for Beneficiary and a photocopy

 Original Police Clearance Certificate and a photocopy

Please advise

Thank you so much.

Contents of your package look good so far!

Don't forget to include any papers from other Visas to the US you might have had before, like a J1 for example. If you have been to the USA on VWP only you don't need to include anything.

Yeah I always get confused is it OZ or GC :D . Yes they did. When I spoke to the person on the phone she told me that they had the OAS Pkg but she was speaking like they received them on Wednesday. I was just glad they have them and they are being worked. Also glad the NVC Rep reported that the busy season will be over soon and perhaps everything will speed up for everyone.

Are you going to include a photocopy of the Passport PCC Stamp that you received in your passport? It may not be necessary - but I am asking since I know we get this in India as part of the Passport PCC certificate.
