The NVC only collects the paperwork and forwards it to the Embassy. The Embassy makes all the calls with regards to whether a case is approved or not. She said I certainly can black the numbers out but the NVC does not know how the embassy would look at that.

Well what I would do then is this: Black out the numbers and attach a letter explaining why you did it and that you can bring the documents that show the account number with you to the interview if the people at the embassy really need to see them. ?

Sounds like a good idea in my head right now but maybe it's not.

EDIT: Ok I'm an idiot, of course tell them that YOUR WIFE can bring them to the interview. :D

Triaxx: Thank you I did get your reply but I'm so dang slow with replying. Plus, I only ever log in when I want to post in the thread I'm reading. :P

I have confirmed the email addresses to the operator at NVC on 30th july. I have still not received any email from them.

Do i have to wait or call them again to ask them to send me AOS bill/DS3032 ?

I suggest you call back, ask specifically for the 'AOS FEE BILL to be EMAILED to you'.

Any lawyer involvement, btw?

Thanks TOKYO. I though that was how it went.

OBX I spoke to the NVC rep regarding the blacking out of Account numbers on financial documents. I told her I was not employed and that I would have to provide financial documentation showing my ability to support my wife. According to her no one had ever ask that before. She told me you're sending this to the state department. I ask her what she meant by that. In my view government employees are not any more ethical than the private sector. Then she said she needed to speak to her supervisor. Here was the response was. The NVC only collects the paperwork and forwards it to the Embassy. The Embassy makes all the calls with regards to whether a case is approved or not. She said I certainly can black the numbers out but the NVC does not know how the embassy would look at that. Or if they would accept it. Then she told me that they may not accept my being unemployed. I told her that I exceeded the published poverty guidelines that are published on their web site so if I meet those requirements How could they not approve me. She said again its up to the Embassy... To me that's bull. But I didn't tell her that. I guess time will tell. What an organization... POWER TO THE PEOPLE>>>

ya - NVC does a basic 'eye-ball review' of the I-864, and to the best of my knowledge - looks for 2 things -

1. form completeness

2. pass/fail on the income levels

and that's it.

Sure - there's a 'totality to the casefile' - the I-864 is just a piece of it - but

if you have anything 'wonky' that requires human thought, you'd best be served by submitting some letter of explanation, a letter of attestion, or an audited income statement from a CPAs office. ConOffs at the Embassy look at W-2 income first, then other income, then assets. I'm not suggesting that you're gonna fail, but I'm suggesting that you prep yer financials 'a different way' for the I-864. Think about it, I'm sure you can see some 'easy path' for you.

Hi Darnell,

I called them. They said they will email me in the next 4-6 weeks !!!!!!

Why is it so long ? Most people have got the email for AOS fee just within a week after getting case number.

I have already emailed them the DS-3032 though. No lawyer involved.

NVC is slowing down on I-130 petitions, apparently because of the 'Haitian asylum' processing and 'lagged casefiles' issue.

I don't know what to tell you, other than that.

For the DS230 package you guys are sending in call logs, emails, and photos... correct?

I think that is the evidence you bring to the interview to prove an ongoing relationship (bonafide marriage) at least that is what I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong...

I spoke to NVC Last night with regards to income. I told them I was not working and would need to send in Documentation showing I had assets which exceeded the 3X-5X poverty levels established by them. She told me the NVC does not evaluate that and only sends things to the Embassy and that is where all the determinations are made. She also said they may not accept it. I also ask about blacking out my account numbers and she had to speak to a Supervisor on that then gave me a its up to you kind of answer and stated again it all depends on the embassy. Nothing like a good system to confuse everyone. GOVERNMENT BS

Thats what i thought but someone posted the contents of the packet 3 checklist and one part of it said PROOF OF RELATIONSHIP.

Not sure if this is old or not.

if it was a 'checklist letter response' then it's specific to that petitioner, that beneficiary, that visa applicant.

IN GENERAL, though - you CAN submit 'proof of relationship' stuff into NVC WITH the DS-230, and it will carry along to the US Embassy. No pain about that, really, NVC WILL NOT TOSS IT OUT. It's not done often enough to report about it here, at VJ, but it IS allowed.

FWIW, 'packet 3 checklists' are usually something sent out with a DCF'd case.
