Sticking NVC Case #/Barcode on Originals???

Anyone that's gone/is going through the NVC process,

Did you guys write your NVC case number/stick a NVC case barcode label on the originals you sent in (ie. birth certificates, marriage licenses)? Any advice on ways to sucessfully convey your case # on those documents without ruining them (should they actually be returned to us like we are requesting)?

I didn't do it in the past.

But I remember putting NVC case# on all the Tax transcripts and the Pay stubs. Somebody or some site recommended and I did so as part of AOS package. I didn't write anything on the IV package documents.

Barcode? No. We did put our case number on everything plus our last name (including pictures)

When I send my forms to the NVC I will use the following:

Removable Adhesive Labels from Avery for all documents submitted in the AOS package

My reasoning is that these are all essentially photocopies and not originals so putting an adhesive label

like that is not a big deal (integrity/authenticity of the document is not paramount)

Simple Post-It Notes for all ORIGINAL documents submitted in the IV package

My desire is to make sure that the integrity of the document is not damaged in any way. After already

confirming with the NVC operator I will place one on the front and one on the back and just write the case

number.

I will make mention that I have annotated the forms in my cover letter.

I will not put any bar codes however, just hand write or type the NVC case number

We put our case number on all photocopies but not on any originals. Nothing was misplaced and all of our originals were returned at our interview.

I would be hesitant to mar the original documents so IMO bobby_kvisa's idea of using removable post-it-notes is a good idea.
