I have to agree, facist is legitimate terminology so if one can give adequate proof of adherence to facist idelogy when applying it, then using it is acurate and neither insulting nor derogatory.

True but, if the police have no power to demand you produce them that is rather a moot point, particualrly as a policeman has no special powers that enable him to determine who is and isn't a legal resident, a USC, a naturalized citizen or someone who has no authority to be in the US. However, if someone comits a crime, and during the course of the investigation into that crime the policemans suspect that the criminal may indeed be present in the US illegally (all kinds of facts could contribute to a proper conclusion of this during an investigation) then at that time the police do have the right to demand the documentation be produced. No one is disputing this, and I doubt anyone has any problem with it.

Well, it might be, perhaps the moderators will difinitively rule on this. I don't know if the Tea Party self describes as 'tea baggers'. If they do, that would dilute the case against its non use on derogatory grounds.
