I'm speaking of LE orgs in AZ, not all over the US.

First of all, you didn't stipulate that. Second, could you link to something that states as such? I have only found one of the unions that does support it from a cursory google search. I know that a vast majority of the officers where I work would not support a bill in california if it contained the verbiage requiring inquiries regarding status.

Arizona police haven't been barred from checking immigration status; they just aren't required to do it. Police unions and organizations are very pro-border security and anti-illegal, so they are in favor of immigration enforcement measures. The judge actually bolstered the effort by striking down practices that create sanctuary cities by disallowing the practice of forbidding police from investigating immigration status. The injunction on requiring immigrants to carry status papers will be stuck down easily since it contradicts federal law.

Either way, this is bad for Democrats. This law is popular across the board, and it will come back to bite them in the butt. Even Chris Matthews admits that, and the WH is not celebrating.

Since you seem to know more about law than most folks and assuming they are correct about state vs fed, then surely state and local police have no right to charge anyone with breaking any federal law. Surely then federal police should man the streets to ensure federal laws are not broken.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Many an immigrant is now a citizen. Are you trying to tell us there is a law saying they should carry their "papers", Herr Commandant?

Therefore, they would be the easiest to verify, as they are listed in various databases; well unless the were illegals and simply granted citizenship from the get-go by the other amnesty. Nevertheless, their name and status would still be in a database.

This, and the requirement on police to check suspected illegals status paperwork are the elements of the law that I disagree with. I don't like the burden on the law enforcement side because from my perspective, and where I work, it makes the job of law enforcement more difficult. Now this may be different in Arizona because of various dynamics, but from my point, it is a hindrance.

Regarding immigrants required to carry their paperwork, I disagree with this because once someone takes U.S. citizenship, they whould be held to the same standard, regardless of where they came from or what color their skin is. In the judges ruling, she said that there was a likelihood of legal immigrants being detained, simply because of their skin color or their accent. I will make the concession that if they changed the wording to mandate that all people residing in Arizona are required to carry a state issued ID card of sorts, then I'd be OK with that.

We need to start requiring all kids born in the US be implanted with RFID chips. In about a hundred years, we'll know who is of here and who is an outsider.

I was thinking that earlier, great minds.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

A requirement for legal residents to carry identification without the legal means to demand that it is shown outside specific parameters (once arrested and if during the course of investigation suspicion of legal residence comes to light - the law as it stands) is not a law that places a legal resident in jeapordy for non-compliance; particularly as legal residents are not provided with a sticker to be worn on their faces with 'legal resident' printed on it.

Or perhaps determine the genetic code for American pedigree, then just a simple blood test would weed out the mutts.

Maybe a quiz is in order since we're neenering back and forth now. That would solve the silly 'you clearly didn't read it'/ 'I certainly did' debate. Just a suggestion.

There's already been one.

The post has a couple of plus ones.

I guess SOME of the membership was able to read my post. For they clearly got the point.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

Oh trust me, I find a great deal more context and a great deal less spin in your shorter posts than in other bitter rants.

Sometimes those quizzes serve to remind people, over and over again, that baseless rants are not that entertaining.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Anyone we know?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
