Is the I-134 Required to be Notarized?

Hello,

This is a quick one this morning...is it required that the I-134 form be Notarized? Recommended or Required is what i would like to know. I did not see the notarized part until just now when i read it in someones post.

if your embassy asked you to notarized it, do it!.. if they didnt, The instructions of the form I-134 says that it does not need to be notarized, so it is no longer required.

Where to File : You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. (Note: Signing Form I-134 is under penalty of perjury under U.S. law). For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it.

Many people would go into ACS at GUZ IV, to notarize the I-134 prior to interview day.

Once upon a time, this was required.

Since the new I-134 (3 years ago?) notarization wasn't required, but petitioners would do it anyway -

for the sole purpose of

showing the Consular Officers at GUZ IV that the PETITIONER WAS THERE, to support the foreign fiance. In some instances, this 'presence' at GUZ IV seemed to make the difference between 'pink slip' and 'white slip denial' - in other instances, it made no difference at all.

There are other reasons to show up at ACS and ACH, absolutely, if you have other red flags in the casefile that have NOT been addressed, prior to interview day.

echoing Darnell's comments..there are many "older" members who still help out on the site who remember the notarization requirement. However, for Guangzhou at least, this is not a requirement.
