 yeah maybe with thousands of dollars worth of mods.

Pissing off a Mustang Cobra owner

Picture this: 9:30 at night, I'm heading to work in my 94 Black Civic EX (Just bought, no performance mods yet) and I am approaching a red light, at that red light is one car: a highland green drop top 90 something Mustang Cobra. I was just slowing down for the red light and was still doing about 30, the Mustang dead stopped at the light, the light changes to green while I'm about 100 feet or maybe more behind the Mustang in the lane beside him, so I quickly accelerate and blow by the Mustang while he's just starting to cross the intersection. Obviously offended by my little import passing his "muscle car" he starts trying to catch me, I only have about half a mile before I turn off into the plaza I work at and he was just catching up to my rear bumper when I braked and hit the turn signal to enter the plaza. I'd call that a cheap thrill of a win for a "ricer" rofl.gif

not all mustangs have a v-8. not all have a stick, and certainly not all know how to drive a sports car to it's fullest extent.

Granted. My point was to John Smith's argument that he needs a big V8 to feel manly when he in fact does not. Unless of course he drives an F150 and not a Mustang. If you want something for speed, you can go much smaller in terms of engine size.

My family has a Honda Civic from 1989. Still runs like a champ. The only thing we ever needed to do to it was chain oil and change tire. Once the alternator went out. Other than that, it runs awesomely. That 21 years and about 195,000 mile on it. Honda = Awesome. Never had any problem with Honda.

If everyone thought about it like this, we'd all be living in caves. Remember when computers cost thousands of dollars and did basically nothing? Remember when cell phones first came out? HD tv's? Remember when anti-lock brakes were only on Formula 1 cars? Ditto for traction control. There will be many technologies that will lead us away from oil. It's not a straight line from point A to point B. There will be many curves and stops along the way. The technologies will get cheaper as they do over time. Think about the computer the size of a small house and now pick up your laptop.

Agreed.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

If you need a V8 like in truck for hauling that makes sense, but if you're driving around in an 8 cylinder Mustang, you're more a wimp than a #######.

cylinder envy, steven?

It's middle America at its best. It never seizes to amaze me seeing people drive trucks worth close to half the price of their house or trailer, that get 8 to 15 mpg. Seeing $80 be wasted in gas at the pump.

I don't drive my Camaro to feel manly, I drive it because I like it. If you need a car to validate your manhood then that is your problem.
