Just called the NVC 24/7 line and found out they've issued an RFE on our I-130/IR1 today!:crying:

We are so disappointed. How far will this set us back? We were hoping to be together again for Christmas, but it looks like not only is spouse going to miss our son's birthday, but now Christmas and our daughter's birthday too!

Blast and darn!

:crying:

Enough with the smilies. I guess I'd better get busy and write the congressman regarding the I-129 that hasn't been touched since the IMBRA RFE last month.

URRGGGH!

Call and speak to an operator and see if you can find out what the RFE is for. That way you can have anything ready for when you receive it. Usually it is something pretty simple and once returned you should get case complete. You are still in the running for xmas depending on how long its going to take the consulate to schedule the interview.

All the best (F)

Do as Aussi suggests and see if you can find out on Monday what they want, then you have a jump start. We had an RFE early on at the NVC, it was cleared up in a matter of two weeks. Hang in there, you can still make Christmas.

An RFE was issued after a month!! That's strange! NVC usually issues RFE within the first 2 weeks! Atleast that's what i've seen in most of the cases.

So why did they issue the RFE ?

Finally got through to the real person a while ago, man that 603-334-0700 number has been busy today.

I asked if she could tell me more about the RFE and she asked, "What is an RFE?" :help: Not a very confidence building reply. However, after a brief sound of computer tapping, she said that yes an RFE had been generated on the 11th because we were missing our DS-230, but that as of today, it has arrived so we can ignore the RFE. I asked her to repeat it all and got the information the the I-864 had been reviewed and entered as complete, (not approved that will happen at the embassy?) The action of the I-864 being completed had generated a search for the DS-230 and the RFE is for that document. Then she said that the DS-230 has been entered as being received today. :star:

This is good new, especially regards the completedness of the AOS, but I shall be calling back in a little while and see if I get the same information and again I try tomorrow. Threes the charm. I'll also call back the IVR tomorrow and see if it has update for Tuesday.

This sounds exactly like the situation mentioned in Jame's shortcuts and I am hoping that it is indeed the problem in this case.

Excerpt from James shortcuts: ....it won't hurt to get your I-864 in early. (The early completion of it's review will, however, generate an odd kind of RFE-- you will hear the IVR tell you that "some documents are missing or incomplete" and that a "checklist" has been sent. This just means they haven't received your DS-230.)

The IVR certainly says some documents are missing or incomplete, but says RFE not checklist.

So there ya go. If the RFE explanation changes I'll update. Thanks again for support. Spouse and I really would be at our whits end if it weren't for all the information and kindness shared on VJ. (F)(F)

Damm you heard it for that reason after a month, shute. That is a common automated message that does happen to quite a few, just not from what I have read of others posts, to get that message a month later. I hadnt even thought of that. Good to hear though

I just got 3 e mails yesterday saying to expect an REF....I had been expecting it all along do to the nature of our case. This is for the I 129-F . I have no idea what they will want, but once I get the letter, I'll soon know. I place it into God's hands...pray for me, eh?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

As with the OP, call the NVC and speak to an operator as they will often tell you exactly what the RFE is for. That way you can have whatever documentation is needed ready to send off.
