indigo why do you always double post?

Phat fingers.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think the difference here is that the person on standby, was no longer on standby. She was seated in the plane. I once flew where my seat had been double booked but they never caught...ie I was on the plane and had a matching ticket to a man who was already seated. I ended up in the last aisle because of it.

My understanding is that when a person gets their ticket and is seated they are now a full passenger with all the rights and privileges.

I wonder if the obese person actually took the responsibility to warn the airline ahead of time. I somehow doubt it.

If you need an extra seat because you're full of lard, perhaps you should not fly to begin with.

It shouldn't inconvenience other people because you choose not to live a health lifestyle.

I mean afterall, this is the way society treats smokers, so why not obese people?

The individual put on the plane was 14 years old. If they were travelling as an unaccompanied minor, the airline's choice was to either put them on the plane or have someone spend the next several hours (or until the next day if no more flights existed that day) in custody of the teen.

It sounds like her parents didn't follow the rules and buy two tickets like they are supposed to. Shouldn't penalize a woman for their mistake.

Again the responsibility of Southwest. They should have kept her off the plane instead of pushing the responsibility on someone else.

Technicality a persons status does not change until the plane leaves the ground.

I would get the little porker to haul the plane from it's stand to the runway..

Then I would jail the mother for 567.5 years in solitary with no visitors and no parole. Charge ? - child abuse - and I would put her on the lard encouragers register (LER). Look, I am becoming an American in my attitudes !

Jail everyone, fire them, stamp on them, hate them , hate everyone, make them bankrupt and then shoot myself - the American dream.

That English stuff is wearing off fast.

What does it take to make these flobberlers have some discipline ? They need a CHBD (Cake hole blocking device) BP make them - or is it AMACO now they have been colonized by the Kenyans ?

Well the obvious solution, if you have a passenger who doesn't want to leave the flight in this situation, is to offer a free flight to anyone who wants to disembark, then move the passenger to make room for the 14 year old.

But obviously they didn't have their thinking caps on that day and now they have an angry frequent flier and bad PR.

or let the porker work his passage by staying on his feet and helping the stewards

It looks like good exercise but would the buns get to the passengers ?

seem strange that they couln't

find her a seat, like in first class for her trouble. I'm thinking it was the last

available COACH seat...

standby is the abyss of air travel... you have to come to airport early and wait till the end to get a seat. Stewards and stewardess all know who is standby and they don't expect any bs from those passengers.
