Hello all,

I filed for a CR2 on 3/10/2010 for my 14 year old step daughter in China

I received an approval letter for the I130 on 7/08/2010 (NVC)

any idea how long until we get the package?

how long until we get her interview?

Any information would be appreciated

Good Day Tim

Where is your case now? Do you have an NVC case number? Have you sent in the Choice of Agent?

If you could give us a little update to your timeline, we'd be better suited to help you

Have you looked at Lingche's shortcuts to help you through NVC?

Good luck

Hey Tim - now you have much work to do at NVC.

for some backgrounder, read all of these pages:

DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

I-864 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3730.html

General NVC stuff - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1335.html

The cool thing is that the interview will be in CHINA - so for NVC PROCESSING, you/her qualify to OPT IN to NVC ELECTRONIC PROCESSING - see http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Electronic_Processing

By now, that casefile should have gotten into NVC - you'll need to start calling NVC, get the GUZ casefile #, and go forth.

Click the links, read them, take copious notes.

----

Could you do me 'one favor' though ? Change yer profile settings a bit, choose 'China' as country ? Makes it easier for China-specific folk to find yer questions in the PORTAL, get more 'pointed' answers, as well.

---

FWIW- there is no 'package' to get - NVC rarely sends out anything to the petitioner or beneficiary, unless you decided to NOT CALL NVC - then you'll both get stuff about 3 to 4 months after the casefile being at NVC.

IMO - you should call NVC, get the GUZ casefile #, then prep the OPT IN email, OPT IN, get the AOS FEE BILL via email, start paying things online.

NVC EP kills the 'dead zone time' for waiting - once the casefile is finished up at NVC, it's about 7 days for NVC to 'set the appointment date' at GUZ. That's 4 months of silliness, GONE, deleted, whisked away, when using NVC EP.

----

So, if yer using NVC EP, and pay attention to portal status, and OPT IN STATUS (takes 10 to 21 days to get OPT'ed IN, alas) - you can get through NVC in about 30 days, then appointment date set a week later, with appointment for interview 20 to 45 days after 'appointment date set'

-----

Here's another China-member that did NVC EP - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/251451-uscis-nvc/ when you have some time, read all in that topic, we covered just about everything under the sun, there, for NVC Electronic Processing.

timwink - don't forget to prep the documents for email, soonish

if YOU stay on top of this, then YOU can slam all through. IMO, it's faster when YOU do it.

You'll have to WAIT for OPT IN to be successful, before sending in the documents.

Don't forget to generate new coversheets from the online portal , after OPT IS accepted - you'll need to do that quickly, after OPT IN is accepted, cause usually you'll get some Sign In Fail within a week after OPT IN accepted. Usually.

The one thing, well the only thing, that I like about 'attorney involvement' , is at NVC - the fees are BOTH shown on 'same day' to be paid. Without an attorney, the IV fee doesn't show up until the DS-3032 is added to the casefile.

Reread those links I posted here, chock full o data.

Good Luck !
