Hello Everyone, I'm trying to figure this out for a while but did not find an answer. Finally, I'm landed here. Hope you guys will be able to help me out.

Thanks in advanced.

Here is the scenario: My wife had her passport before I became US citizen. As it is the case in Bangladesh passport, she has a field in her passport that says Father's/Husband's name (for married girl its husband and for everyone else its father). So, she has my name there.

Then, when becoming US citizen, I took the option of name change through a court order. But her passport is having my old name as it is a BIG pain to change it there. The reason it is really hard to change it: my name has changed in USA but not in Bangladesh. So, I have to go to Bangladesh to do the same, and then change my marridge document and then after seeing the marridge document, they will change the passport. So, I just asked her to face the interview with the old name and see what happens. But I'm in tention about it. Do you guys think (know) it could be a problem and they would ask her to go change the passport?

The only reason I could think of that would make them to ask for passport to change is that if K3 visa would have my name on it, and they would not want to show my old name there (as that would show the same passport with 2 different husband name). So, does K3 visa contains husband's name? and what are the chances she would be asked to change the passport?

the K3 visa does not have any note of spouse's name.

The name on the visa will be whatever is her legal name when she applies for it. If she wishes to use your name on her legal ID in the US, she should put that name on the application, and include copies of supporting documentation with it. (ie: marriage certificate, name change notice etc).

If her passport is about to expire sometime during the duration of the K3 visa, perhaps she could just apply for a new one, with whatever married name she wishes to use, before she leaves Bangladesh.

However! Any travel arrangements that she makes, like airplane tickets will have to be whatever her name is on her passport.

So, it is not very likely that she will be asked to change my name on her passport? she is having only one name all over, but i applied for k3 with my new legal name, but when she did her passport, she had my old name in it. so, my concern is would they ask her to go update her passport with my current name in it?
