Hello,

How do i check if my file has been touched. I have been going through the forum and people have said that they see that their file has been touched.

But i don't know how to find that out on-line.

I'm still quite new here and am not sure how it all works, but.....

When I filed I signed up on the USCIS site to have e-mail notifications and updates each time but never received anything and my file was never "touched" but it was completed quickly and received NOA 2 about 6 weeks later.

Sometimes a file never gets "touched."

Go to USCIS.gov and on left of page you can click on "check my case status" and enter case # and it will give you a general idea of where they are with your case. You will also have the option to sign-up for updates, but dont be too disappointed if you never get any.

And I'm sure more experienced members will be able to give you more advice.

5/03/2010- I-129F received at Vermont processing center
5/04/2010- NOA 1 (received on 5/10/2010)
5/06/2010- Check cashed by USCIS
6/22/2010- NOA 2 (received on 6/26/2010)
6/24/2010- NVC received application
6/28/2010- Application sent to Lima embassy
7/07/2010- Consulate Received Application
7/09/2010- Pkt 3 sent to fiancee' (which he still hasn't received)
7/15/2010- E-mailed embassy & got response back- they said to watch for pkt in mail and gave me inteview date
8/16/2010- Interview- need an additional police certificate from Costa Rica :( so not approved today, but once they receive certificate will mail visa :)
8/16/2010-Trip to Costa Rica embassy for help with certificate- Let the games begin
8/17/2010-Trip to Notary, trip to Minister Relacciones Exteriores, trip to Notary collage
8/18/2010-Back to notary collage, back to MRE, back to Costa Rica embassy
8/19/2010-Back to MRE
8/20/2010-Back to Costa Rica embassy- whew,finally, "stamp collection" on paper complete and can now attempt to get actual police certificate needed

11/01/2010-all paperwork in - Approved

12/12/2010-He arrived here!! :joy:

1/11/2011-married (L)

1/14/2015-Spouse applied for citizenship

3/27/2015-biometrics appointment

5/6/2015-interview

Chella, Follow what Freda/Alejandro has suggested. If you register your case# with the USCIS site, you may or may not see touches in your case. It doesn't matter. Many get approvals even without the touches.

BTW, What's your timeline? My beneficiary's consulate is also Chennai.

Yeh, it's a 50-50 shot at actually getting touches. We got a touch two days in a row then it was exactly 30 days to the NOA2 :thumbs:

yeah you sign up on the USCIS website.

it doesn't have much point though. it is only good for the USCIS process. it does not work with the NVC.

We didn't get a touch until our approval! But it helped pass the time logging on everyday to check. :lol:

I live in NY. My wife's Consulate is also Chennai. I wanted to know your timeline since both our beneficiary's consulate are same. You are far ahead of mine and will be approved in a month time. Good luck to your visa journey!
