That's how it strikes me, only sadder. I am sure it was quite thrilling for a month or so, maybe even six, but 10 years? It must have taken over her life. How easy is it to find 2 guys a week that you trust enough to have sex with them? Presumably she did take some precautions to ensure the men she slept with were not going to abuse her in some way?

Well yeah you might lose a couple of weeks, or even a few months before thinking "why was I doing this anyway?" and feel somewhat bad for wasting your precious free time... for 10 years she must've been asking herself if it was worth it.

As for precautions...I'm probably just being judgemental but I can't see how someone who chooses such a bizarre (and ultimately fruitless! Well maybe not depends on your POV I guess) pursuit could have thought that much about sexual health and consequences beyond not getting pregnant. That would have been a pain to work out who the father was!

But on being abused, well consider that most if not all abusers seek the weak and vulnerable. Sure what she did was risky but I'm sure the meanest kind of person she came across was one she slept with who didn't care about her well being at all, which is something of a moot point considering that's exactly what she was doing too. She doesn't sound vulnerable, certainly not like people I know of, just without a lot of common sense?

Seeing as how she was going through an average of 2 a week, she didn't give herself much time to be able to worry about consequences. Sure she could have been on the pill and used condoms (I hope she did that!) but there are infections that can be passed on even with their use. Even if she asked. "uh do you have herpes?", which I doubt, it's not like she was taking the time to know these people. I doubt she considered their personalities too much either, since it was only about reaching a "goal".

I dunno, I mean in a measly 3 occasions I went clubbing over 3 years, despite being the most conservatively dressed person there I got harassed each time (and I'm not model quality for sure, sadly). Not the same as being directly propositioned for sex, I know, but if you're looking for a sexually promiscuous night out it can't be that hard to find participants in comparison especially if she was travelling widely as was stated. In fact if she moved around that much if she hadn't told her story publicly no man she met would have been any the wiser. Not that I think it's okay to hide that kind of truth from a potential partner.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was trying to say but you said it better I can't really have a strong opinion on this when it's two people basically using each other, not like there was harm done.

Although I said she doesn't sound like a victim, I have yet to meet anyone who sleeps around a lot who is really mentally sound, man or woman. I'd be really interested in meeting someone who genuinely does it for fun, often, is happy, healthy and just plainly likes living that way.

I am sure everyone gets propositioned in night clubs but yes, are all propositions going to lead to sex and would you really have sex with most people that come up and proposition you? I mean, presumably she at least mildly fancied all the guys she slept with - if not found them drop dead gorgeous, not just did it regardless of whether she found them attractive or not? I can't see any reason for having sex with people you don't find physically attractive unless you are going to get paid - and that wasn't the object of the exercise. Obviously, it's not something that makes any sense to me at all.

Well I don't think we are the kind of people who can really understand where this woman is coming from in the first place but if her goal was important to her, which to have kept it up I can only assume that it was, she might not have been that picky. You are right though, I can't think of anything about this situation that I understand, from wanting to be like a character in a sitcom, to spending 10 years sleeping with an arbitrary number of partners - nothing about it makes any sense at all.

In my television genres class I did this 15 page paper on Sarah Jessica Parker's acting career and a fair portion of it was about the hit television series Sex and The City. In my research I came across this book that was a collection of scholarly pieces on the contemporary television show. It revealed that the creators had originally pitched the show to HBO as 4 single gay men in New York and their sexual adventures. HBO countered that audiences weren't ready for something like that and suggested switching it to four single girls in the city. This made for a dynamic collaboration between women and gay men because they partnered with the fashion industry which helped spur on the success of the television series since gay men run the fashion world and women of all ages love to consume it.

The creators also revealed that as part of the compromise they kept the essences of their gay male characters funneling it into the women's characters, and the biggest gay male character they portrayed was not an actual gay male on the show but through Samantha Jones. Other scholarly pieces cited that while the message of free love and liberating sex is portrayed by Samantha's character as a feminist issue and a women's rights theme throughout the brand that in fact it's not a feminist message because of the original idea created by gay men to portray a gay man's character and that message it was intended to send to audiences.

So essentially one could look at this woman who was trying to emulate Samantha Jones as her way of saying that she wants to be a big gay male in New York City.

I used to work with a guy who claimed a high number of female conquests.

He was a special branch officer - his work was not quite James Bond

I was with him for a lot of them so I know it was true

That just about summed up about 50% of em but not the rest, many of whom were most attractive - physically at least.

If a woman is in a situation where nobody knows her, many are as bad as, if not worse than, men. Most female abstinence is based on the chance that people might find out rather than moral considerations.

Hen parties to Dublin for instance - they are wild. This applies to young women who obeying natures replication call, but also to older women who are seeking reassurance. In the latter case it is a temporary phase as the replication drive becomes irrelevant.

Of course once they tempt a guy into getting married and are knocking on a bit, they hang their spurs up pretty quickly and get a cat or a dog on which they lavish their maternal instincts.
