What was the point again? She wanted to be confident about her sexuality so she sleeps with an arbitrary number of men to achieve that goal? Doesn't sound as though she understands how to set goals that relate to the end she wishes to achieve.

My sentiments exactly. She is now worried that the men she actually wants to have a relationship with will not view her as sexually confident, but as some kind of tart. I have no idea if that is true or not, but to question oneself in that way betrays the notion that she sees herself as a sexually liberated 'Samantha'.

I would think it would be difficult for her to find a man who wouldn't judge her on that. The kind of man who wouldn't be put off by her behavior is probably not the "settling down" type, I wouldn't guess.

Right, hence my original point, she set herself a goal, but not one that actually achieves what she really wanted, which is presumably sexual confidence with a man she can settle down and be happy with - the thrill of one night stands having lost whatever luster it once had.

That's how it strikes me, only sadder. I am sure it was quite thrilling for a month or so, maybe even six, but 10 years? It must have taken over her life. How easy is it to find 2 guys a week that you trust enough to have sex with? Presumably she did take some precautions to ensure the men she slept with were not going to abuse her in some way?
