Of course, you should get it now. Normally to get PCC in India would take typically a couple of weeks to a month or so. Indian PCC is valid for 6 months from the issuance, I think.

Local police station in Baroda will issue the PCC within minutes. So that wont be much of an issue to get. its the PCC from the AMD passport office that is the problem.

One of my friend recently applied for PCC at ahmedabad office, and he told me his experience:

They won't issue passport clearance certificate without looking at the missing document cheaklist OR interview letter itself. Even security person won't allow you inside without having either of these letters in hand. My sister-in-law at NVC stage recently went and experienced this. So we called NVC and inquired about this specific matter. NVC told that you should send DS-230 and all other supporting documents As soon as you pay IV fee's and when you get barcode cover sheet. They will then review all documents and then only they will generate missing document cheaklist.

And PCC at ahmedabad office doesn't take more than 2 weeks-3 weeks (including appilcation and getting in hand). So I am not worried for passport clearance certificate now as I know the process. Only thing is I want to send out DS-230 and police clearance certificate and other supporting documents to my spouse before time.

I have heard from the beginning onwards that Gujrat PP office will ask purpose of the PCC in a written form such as NVC documents etc. Is that correct?

If yes, one from Gujrat needs to enter and collect the NVC details as well.

Please let me know if it is correct or not.

Good thinking. I have asked my wife to have everything filled out for me. She is getting her name changed on the passport (submitting forms today) so once she gets that in hand, she will be mailing me all the documents. I know its kind of late but I dont expect to hear from CSC for another two weeks. So this gives me enough time to have my wife's passport in hand and then all the documents as well.

Yes, this is very much confirmed as I have seen two live recent cases. By the way local PCC at baroda won't take more than a week. If you have a link, it will only take 2 days.

Is it required to change the name at this time? It is up to you, but is it required? Will it conflict the name specified in I-130? Just a thought.

If she wants, she can change her name during Naturalization - another option.

I won't go opposite with this suggestion. But some at VJ some has to say that they have changed it and never faced difficulty. But my dear friend john.....it's always better to keep everything under same name as in the application.

But well one thing is sure, she has to change the name before she arrives in america, because she will otherwise get everything in maiden name.

That's me.

Yep, NVC operator told me the same. Seems like such a waste of time!

Wish ahemdadbad wouldnt be so strict on the police clearance. Its almost as if their rules are saying you need to fail the visa process before we issue you the papers that you need. Oye!

Blah.
