I've already said that I have ethical objections to prostitution. Just for the record, I would not pay for sex, nor would I want to be paid for sex . Aside from ethics, I personally am not interested in sex with people I do not know or engage with emotionally - I do not find the idea of having sex with multiple partners exciting and have no interest in sex for its own sake outside of a long term committed relationship.

to answer your question in the op - if i had a kid that was gonna do as you suggested in the op, i'd suggest porn movies as that pays more - plus i'd suspect more porn stars transitioned into the non-porn side of hollywood than hookers.

To answer your question in the more general sense, if you make decisions for people, you are responsible for the consequences of those decisions. If one believes in personal responsibility, for oneself, and for others, then your have to allow people have to succeed and fail on their own. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. We learn more from failure than we do from success.

More specifically, hopefully I would have provided the tools my progeny would need to make the decision on her own. Having been young decades ago, youth doesn't pay much attention to old farts anyways.

I would have an issue with my offspring going into this "career", which btw, IS legal in Brazil, although owning a brothel or pimping is illegal, it is legal to sell sex, if you're your own boss.

That wouldn't happen. Women aren't motivated by their customer's looks, they're motivated by the contents of their customer's wallet. Also, it's not unusual for a prostitute to stop halfway because "time's up."

I am a believer in legalized prostitution (not surprising, coming from Amsterdam).

In this situation, it depends on the daughter. If she was smart and independent, going to college, seemingly having her life in order, and she came to me and explained in an adult way her choice of making money, and her motivation behind it, I wouldn't kick up a fuss. I don't think I'd be too happy about it, but I wouldn't stand in her way or judge her.

I think that if a woman believes she can separate love and sex, and feel alright within herself selling intimacy, that's her business. I would insist she charge high rates, though!

Of course, if I didn't feel she was very together, and had come up with this idea on a whim and hadn't researched it or thought it through, I would make an attempt to discourage her, or at least try to find out if she understands the possible consequences to her health and the way she views herself.

I think it's important for parents to show unconditional love towards their children, as far as that is possible.
