Alright, so DeathKnell..piss off already u twit...I wont give you the benefit of the doubt. You are a troll, but it was fun to read anyway.

On another note, several folks give advice not to plan their weddings until the visa is in hand...I am curious about what people did as far as providing evidence that a marriage would actually take place. I felt safe in providing them wedding invites, engagement ring receipts, and a letter from the wedding coordinator/pastor, but in doing this, I had to come up with a date far in the future. I got the impression that that's what they were looking for for evidence. Thoughts?

It is not a requirement to show evidence that a wedding will take place other then the letter of intent. Any evidence submitted with the petition is only to prove that you met within the required two year period, to satisfy the requirement of the I-129F for a fiance. Evidence of an ongoing relationship is required at interview stage and even then the letter of intent is all that is required to show that you intend to marry. Evidence of an engagement ie ring receipt may be submitted at with the initial filing of the petition but that is seperate to the evidence of having met. Nowhere does it state that one must show evidence such as wedding invites etc that a marriage will take place. Some of this evidence may be beneficial if it helps to complete the picture in that you have actually met in person in the 2 years.

Ah, I knew that "Immigration Made Easy" book I bought last year was a waste of $50.00. That book actually recommended submitting a letter from your pastor, wedding invites etc. I wish I would have known about this site before I sent my petition in...no matter though, I think I've provided enough evidence of us meeting in the past couple years (airline tix stubs, cruise itineraries, pictures of us, passport stamp photocopies). I pray that's enough. So yes, that never made much sense to me....how can you plan a wedding without a visa in hand. Oh well, we had originally planned the wedding in November, but I suspect we're not going to make it....plus she needs several weeks to quit her job etc etc once the visa is approved. At least I wont have to go back and get new wedding invites/letter from pastor with an updated date, since they didn't need it anyways. Thanks for the info. :innocent:

Hand down, don't even count on having your NOA2 or visa approval anytime the rest of this year since you just filed. I'm sorry to say that but like everyone else here have said numerous times, because of IMBRA, i would be more safe to count on a year from when you filed. If you look at my timeline, i filed in March TO CSC! it's been over 4 months running on 5. I still don't have my NOA2 and even if I got it within the next few weeks, my fiancee and I still have to wait about 5 MORE months just for her interview. So that's clearly a good 9 months for us. Soooo just sit back, relax and try to find ways to pass the time with each other online or however you keep in touch. It's gonna be a long ride before anything else happens. Good luck

??Jul 2005 - we met online

28 Jul 2005 - our relationship "officially" started (we chatted almost every single night!)

4 Feb 2006 - I flew over to see her for her birthday and Valentine's Day

9 Mar 2006 - petition received

14 Mar 2006 - petition opened

16 Mar 2006 - NOA1 sent (nothing heard since)

23 Jun 2006 - IMBRA RFE sent

6 Jul 2006 - IMBRA RFE reply sent

18 Jul 2006 - RFE reply recieved

19 Jul 2006 - touched

Yep, next year definitely. Our K-1 visa took just over 9 months. We got married a year after to the day from our NOA1.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I have no criminal record, I started this "process" (it seems more like they throw the files in the air, pick one, flip a coin and ...well you get the picture) on March 27th and I am still waiting for the damn NOA2. The worse thing is, I am pretty sure nobody has even bothered to open the file at this time.

October wedding date? are you kidding me!!! If I were you I'd plan at least for next year

NOA1: March 27th 2006

Case transferred from NCS to CSC: June 6th 2006

Imbra RFE received at CSC: July 17th 2006

NOA2: August 31st 2006

Received NOA2 e-mail notification: September 1st 2006

Touched: September 7th 2006

NVC receipt letter and case number: September 22nd 2006

NVC sent case to embassy: September 22nd 2006

Embassy receives case: October 2nd 2006

Interview date at embassy: November 14th 2006

I asked my pastor to write a letter on church letterhead to substantiate our intention to marry and I included it with my I-129F packet. Figured it couldn't hurt. To prepare for the interview, both David and I have written (and had notarized this time) new letters of intent and those will go to the Embassy with him, the I-134, and the 2 inches of other forms/evidence it seems we have acquired... :P

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Kind of both:-). By the time I had completed everything I needed to do in order to move and actually got here it was another 6 weeks. We had decided we didn't want a big fancy wedding but something simple and meaningful outdoors somewhere. It took some time to find the location, and then to review the dates that were possible. The anniversary date was one of the available Saturdays and we thought that it just seemed appropriate somehow. It was also just a few days short of the 1st anniversary of my mother's death as well,. SHe had been so happy for us, so we felt that this was also a way we could 'include' her in our wedding. My Dad took the flowers from my wedding bouquet back home and laid them on her grave on the anniversary of her death 4 days later.

Oh, it was also the day before my own birthday - so i joke each year if he forgets our anniversary I get a really good birthday present!

This was very amusing to read ... as well as the other forums it linked to. The idea that the USCIS is unaware of state laws is ludicrous .. really it would only require a very small list .. only 50 states and some territories. My divorce was complicated and took a long time to get, but in Ohio, you can get married immediately following the divorce hearing if you want to. I got married 27 days later and one of the surprises I had was that the authorities in Sweden checked with lawyers to verify that Ohio did not have a cooling off period.

Yeah but this guy is different, he's filed the petition and he's still married.
