DeathKneel...I think that you will hear from the USCIS very soon.

Incidently, did you read the instuctions that come with the petition.

Using your logic, you could have filed long before you became a US Citizen by telling them to start processing the petition that you will send in your citizenship when you become one, and divorce docs when you get divorced. This way you could have saved even more time. Have you seen your fiancee in person in the last two years??, or is that something also that you are going to send in at a later date??

Refund???.....sure you read the instructions??

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

I must admit the title of this thread did give me a chuckle and reminded me how optimistic I was when I first started this process. The optimism is now tempered with reality! Of course, from all the previous responses you now have your answer. Good luck on your journey.....one month will only be the tip of the iceberg.

Alright, so DeathKnell..piss off already u twit...I wont give you the benefit of the doubt. You are a troll, but it was fun to read anyway.

On another note, several folks give advice not to plan their weddings until the visa is in hand...I am curious about what people did as far as providing evidence that a marriage would actually take place. I felt safe in providing them wedding invites, engagement ring receipts, and a letter from the wedding coordinator/pastor, but in doing this, I had to come up with a date far in the future. I got the impression that that's what they were looking for for evidence. Thoughts?

There is nothing in the I-129F petition requiring evidence that a wedding will actually take place. Requirements include proof that you have met in the prior 2 years as well as a letter of intent to marry from both the petitioner and beneficiary. At the interview, you will also need to provide an updated letter of intent from each. You may be asked to prove the relationship. For this, photo albums, receipts, letters, emails, etc. etc. etc. are obviously useful.

Because of the uncertainty of timing for the K1, especially now, it would be wise to put off planning anything until the visa is in hand. That includes a wedding. Even better to get married by a justice of the peace or in Las Vegas and plan another big wedding for family down the road when you no longer have the uncertainty of all of this or a 90 day limit.

It is not a requirement to show evidence that a wedding will take place other then the letter of intent. Any evidence submitted with the petition is only to prove that you met within the required two year period, to satisfy the requirement of the I-129F for a fiance. Evidence of an ongoing relationship is required at interview stage and even then the letter of intent is all that is required to show that you intend to marry. Evidence of an engagement ie ring receipt may be submitted at with the initial filing of the petition but that is seperate to the evidence of having met. Nowhere does it state that one must show evidence such as wedding invites etc that a marriage will take place. Some of this evidence may be beneficial if it helps to complete the picture in that you have actually met in person in the 2 years.

The consulate is only looking for a valid relationship with intent to marry. There is a form that you can fill out and give to the embassy as your intent to marry.

Kind of hard to plan things when there are so many pitfalls and delays, how could you possibly plan your marriage to fit into that 90 day window ?
