Good morning/evening everyone. First, I'm new in here, this is the first time for me to post after making up my mind to sign up, and I've been following with your updates and news since Jan 2010 when my husband and I started our "CRAZY" visa thing!. ha!

anyways, you guys post such great issues to discus and some great information. Thank you for helpful readings.

I'm Egyptian woman, married to my American man. 4 years amazing love story. I'm mother for 4 adorable children "previous marriage", 36 years old. My huband is 46 yeras old, he's getting along greatly with my babies. My mother in low, my husband's aunti and him were here to visit last May. It was unforgetable family time. We do not have any financial problems at all "my husband got wonderful job and I have great job in Egypt as well" we got married on Jan 19th 2010 and been through the process to get our interview which going to be finally after tomorrow. Now my questions are,

1- How much the DHL fees cost? I emailed the US embassy but they did not answer my question! My husband did paied all fees required on line to NVC, all applications mailed to them via Fedex "all our original copies". the only thing remais "unknown" is DHL fees.

2- My husband and I contacted NVC asking them about translating my "criminal paper" or whatever they call it they answered back that there's no need for such sinse US embassy has got CO whom really understad and can read Arabic language so there's no need for that, even more, when they sent us the appointment letter it did not mention anything about translating my criminal report.

3- My husband can not attend interview with me due to his work, does this affect on my interview?

4- I applied last year to visit with my man, we weren't married that time and I got REFUSED TWO times. Does this affect on my case now or not?? however, my appling last year was to same address of our home in USA, same names, same phone #... etc

5- Does working with Navy, Air Force, Army...etc affect somehow or considered to some point when review our application for this Visa?

Well, I won't go through what questions they might ask at time of interview, I think you did posted all questions that anyone may ask in the intire world LOL

6- My very curious question is, are there any other WOMEN in the same boat with me?? because all I read so far within last 7 months are experinces for Egyptian MEN married to US women but not vice versa!!!

7- Does it affect on our case when we wrote that my children are in my ex custody? because Egyptian law does not allow woman to keep the kids in her costedy after marriage second time!

Finally, thank you very much for taking time reading, your answers will be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful Friday

I can only answer a few of your questions.

1)Check again on the Embassy's website, as the courier fees may be stated there. I know this is of little help, but in the UK, the fee is around 14 British Pounds for standard delivery (3-5 working days).

2)If they said so, then that's fine. Lucky you!

3)You'll have to check with the Embassy as it really varies from one Embassy to the other. At some, spouses are required to attend. At some others, they aren't required to, but they can if they want to (and may have to obtain permission for that). Double-check with your Embassy that it's ok for your husband not to attend.

4)I suspect you got rejected because they feared "immigration intent" (especially if you had an immigration case pending). If that was the reason for your rejection, it shouldn't affect your current application at all. Even if this wasn't the case, you should still be fine 'cause you are now being processed as the spouse of a US citizen.

5)It doesn't affect (favorably or otherwise), but if your husband serves in the US Forces, then he doesn't have to prove US domicile if he's outside the US, as he's automatically considered domiciled in the US. That's for the I-864 affidavit.

6)Sorry, can't be of much help here

7)You didn't mention petitioning immigration for your kids. If your husband has petitioned immigration just for you and not for your kids, then they're not going to care or question who has custody over them. But if you've also petitioned the kids, then you may actually have issues with the custody rules (they normally expect the accompanying parent to have custody AND the written consent of the other parent for the kids to migrate).

Good luck at your interview!

Thank you so much for your reply and helpful answers.

Well, no my babies are not going to travel with me. My husband and I agreed to come visit with them every month and during school time we will travel every two months or so.

I'm sorry, did not mention that I tried to apply last year for a tourist visa only. Never had any intention to remain there or fool the system or bla bla. I thought to give it a try and jump on an airplan and go visit with my man ha!!

anyways, thank you so much for very helpful reply

Congratulations and Welcome to VJ!

Even thought they are quite a few "Egyptian" men married to "American" women, there are a few egyptian wives with us husbands too!

I hope I can answer you the best that I can~~

(1 The DHL fee is 65 egyptian pounds for the delivery of your visa and passport back to you. That is the only cost you will have at your interview.

(2 We got everything translated because we had to send all to the NVC first of all and they send it to the embassy. If you have gotten in touch with the NVC and they said don't worry about it, then I wouldn't worry about it. For your own peace of mind, print out the email you got from the NVC stating that translation wasn't necessary for the embassy and carry it with you!

(3 No, your husband not being with you shouldn't affect your interview. I did attend my husband's interview because I was able to at the time, and the questions asked were directed to me, so my husband got lucky!!!!

(4 You being refused a visitor visa before your application for CR1 shouldn't affect your interview at all. Just be prepared for them to ask about it because the chances are they will ask! Have all your paperwork in order and the original certificate of divorce from your previous marriage AND also the original divorce certificate IF your husband was previously married too. THIS is a fact that they will ASK for it!

(5 I don't know if being in the military will help your case or not. I know that I had nothing to do with the military and it didn't matter in our case! I would think that it shouldn't matter about military at all. They will/ or had investigated BOTH you and your husbands background thoroughly!

(6 YES! There are a few women that I can think of off hand who are Egyptian with American husbands! and Yes, it is predominately Egyptian men with American women!

(7 You not having custody of your children from a previous marriage won't affect your application. Be prepared because they will ask you about what you are going to do about seeing your children.

Good luck with your upcoming interview!!! I am not too sure about women who are married to the US citizen getting AP/AR, but regardless be prepared and I know you will do fine!!!

Let us know how you interview goes and all you need to do is just ask if you have anymore questions!!!

And Sam,

Thank you very much for reply. Waw, it feels like family in here. Well, thank you for telling about fees for DHL my fear was (let's just pray it's not gonna be like 100000$) hehe.

You also made me notice that questions depends on case itself. When read that each case is unique, I realized immediatly that my questions will be according to what my husband, family, previous marriage...etc statues are. For example:

1- my children are not going to accompany me travelling(why??) that could be a question

2- waiting for 4 years until we decide getting married (why??) that also could be very obvious question.

3- OF COARSE they gonna ask about my applying last year for tourist visa. And the reason why it was denied.

Well, thank you again very much Sam. I will for sure update you with how things worked out. At least as a gratitude for kind good people here and help they provided me without they even notice how much their posts been a tremendous help.

PS. My husband and I planned to write a book about our love struggle, this site is going to be part of it, not adv, but a beam of hope to lovers all over earth.

Please pray for us. Thanks

Don't worry NJ! You are in my prayers!

Here is some reviews for Egypt, there are even some of the Egyptian women who are married to Americans!

http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/index.php?cnty=Egypt&cty=&dfilter=5

Yes, each interview is very oriented towards each case. There are some generic questions that will be asked but also alot that they just come up on their own. Truthfully it is just like talking to someone about your life. You will do fine!

Also, I noticed someone saying that they paid 75LE instead of 65, maybe the rates have gone up! I know they have everywhere else!

Good luck!
