More I-130 (DCF) maddness

Ok, so I've said before that my husband is about to send in our I-130 package to the London Embassy.

I guess I'm overstressing and obsessing about the tiniest details, but I've read some weird stories...

And I feel so embarassed I'm starting new topics all the time

So, long story short, we got married in the US (California) last month. We don't live there, we live in London until I (hopefully) get my CR-1 approved and we can move back. We just travelled there, had our wedding, enjoyed our vacation and came back to London to do our DCF. Now, on the day we had our marriage license issued, the lady at the County Office told us they couldn't use our UK address on the license (which later became part of our certificate) because they needed a US zip-code (i.e. only numbers, and those of you who live in the UK will know that UK post codes include letters too). So she said we needed to give them a US address, otherwise their computer system wouldn't take it. So we agreed to give them my husband's mom's address, where we stayed during our trip (and where, btw, we intend to move back to until we find our own place).

Now our marriage certificate has been sent to us, sealed and stamped and all, looks nice and official, but it shows that US address on for both of us. And I'm wondering if this may be an issue with the USCIS in London, thinking that my husband isn't actually a UK resident, he's not eligible to file DCF etc. Although of course we can prove the truth (bills, bank accounts, apartment lease, proof of employment, IRS statements with the London address on - all from the UK, plus his UK visa and his previous one with the entry stamp). My husband thinks I'm over-thiking about it and panicking and that they may not even think that detail to be "suspicious". He says that everyone from the UK who got married in the US must have had the same issue with the zip codes/post codes, so they'll have seen that a million times already.

He's probably right, I guess I'm just panicking that our I-130 may get rejected because of that

I've been tempted to include a short signed note explaining why the marriage certificate doesn't have our current London address on it, but as they seem to not want anything extra in the first instance, I guess I'll just leave it as it is and keep my fingers crossed. Plus if I do that it may draw their attention to it, when otherwise there's the possibility that they don't pay it attention? I just hope they at least send an RFE if they need clarifications, and that they don't just go ahead and reject it regardless...

I'm just losing it :wacko::wacko::wacko:

People's views on this? Any similar experiences? Do people think it'd be good to include a short written explanation regardless of their rule not to send anything miscallaneous?

Hi Christi,

I think everyone on here understands the panic and random thinking you can go through in this process.

I dont think you have anything to worry about, we got married in a different borough to where we live in the UK and as a result we were had to provide a different address (parents address) that was actually based in that area.

Also, I think a lot of people may have been married all over the place and in the time since they got married, may have moved and their address has since changed.

SCROSSO

Our Story

Met in September 2006 through a mutual friend (S being the UK citizen) P studying over here at an American Uni (she is originally from NY)

Xmas 2006 S went to visit P's family (repeated very year since)

2007 moved in together

3rd January 2010 - S asked P to marry him in NY she said yes

8th May 2010 - married in London at Morden Park House

20th May - sent in I-130

22nd July - I-130 Approved

24th July - Packet 3 received

31st August - Medical

Moving out of our flat in London on 1st September, P returning to set up home in NY.

10th November 2010 - the plan will hopefully be for P to fly back to London and together take a transatlantic cruise together across to NY with visa in hand.
