A peak inside the far-right university that banned interracial dating until 10 years ago.

I kept thinking maybe I should post here and maybe I shouldn't bother, but here I am posting finally.

I grew up with a strong protestant, devout, born again Christian influence on the way my family and most friends have lived our lives down here in Florida(not very southern around where I grew up or live now). And we didn't agree with Bob Jones Univ's strict rules on certain things, especially not supporting a rule like no interracial dating. I remember when I was young hearing people in our circle say it was absurd.

At one Christian high school I went to, there were some kids who thought it was a fine choice and maybe one or two went there out of hundreds of students. I never thought it sounded like a good college to go to myself. I went to a state university.

If some people are willing to defend a political way of life more than agreeing that it was a bad rule, then what are you gonna do. I am conservative on many things, and probably share some fundamental spiritual beliefs with the university(I haven't read their info, so who knows really), but I wouldn't support the rule they had about interracial dating, nor being against contemporary Christian music, nor a lot of what was mentioned in the article.

True. There are cultural differences to consider. I personally don't support that kind of thing but it is going on all over the world.

I would rather date an Aborigine woman who doesn't speak English and believes in rocks and trees or something than date a fundamentalist christan. I find them scary and unacceptable.

However I would fight any State or University who tried to stop me dating a fundamentalist christian if I wanted to.

Nowhere else in the industrialised world would these questions arise and nor would they be allowed by the people

Well if you post something, people read it and some quote it in their reply.

That's what it's about.

It's interactive rather than a letter to the editor

Are you sure it was a feeling ? It might have been a message from out there somewhere...
