What if both people are benefitting from the situation. The guy gets a younger girl to have sex with, the girl gets money or material things, and they're both having great sex and enjoying it. Is that still considered prostitution?

I guess I can add my opinion along with the many others by now. I skipped a few pages in between though.

Asking a diverse group is a good and bad idea. People who see it the same as you will agree that you should consider ditching the friendship. I am not good with confrontation. But if I really don't like what a friend is doing, I don't hang out with them anymore. I have longtime family friends in jail for things I would never agree with, nor does the court obviously. They know I think it's wrong though. I guess certain things would cross the line for me. If I found out a really good friend was going to a prostitute, I'd be very ticked off at them and tell them they are doing something very wrong. Most of my friends are Christian by the way, so to me they would know better than to do that, no excuses. If they get mad at me, I don't care. They can be the one to ditch me. I am judgmental, yes, when it comes to good friends or who I will bring around my family. Why shouldn't I be?

First, baiting post attempting to derail thread and post quoting same has been removed.

Second, many of the comments are very close to violating TOS for personal attacks - be careful you don't cross that line

Third, thread has gone off topic from the original discussion about whether or not to end a friendship because a 'friend' is visiting prostitutes. If you want to discuss the nature of women/men as prostitutes/users then start a new thread as the conversation does not belong in this one.

We know that the military are overwhelmingly christian and squeeky clean and you are so proud of those freckle faced all American boys - jeez give it a rest and get real.

This christian stuff is the biggest hypocrisy in the world !

What about Bill Clinton and Edwards and Sandford all the priests with little boys

Don't give me all this about your friends are christian as so less likely to do it

i think the "bull ######" comment is being taken too literally. it only means that he'd rather get back to doing what is important to him.... all matters associated with courting a woman is of no interest to him. it does not mean he hates women since, after all, he (client who feels this way) is seeking their company.

here is another one: "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”

women counter with: "Why buy the pig when you can have a little sausage for free?"

First of all, I am annoyed at hypocrisy in Christianity as well. Those who do that kind of stuff give all of us a bad name. No one is really exempt from being a hypocrite though, I am sure you have been one yourself before.

I didn't say Christians don't go to prostitutes, I said most of my friends are Christians and know it would be wrong. If they did it, it would be a bigger deal to me than someone who does not adhere to our beliefs. I wouldn't accept any excuses from them for why they had to do it. They would know it was wrong, as would I.

And I am annoyed at you, using your many opportunities to belittle me and my faith on here at times. I don't find you charming at all.

This brought to mind an old college professor of mine who had a "pied-a-terre" apartment in Paris.

When I had a short stay in Paris I looked him up.

I asked him if he was ever married and he matter-of-factly gave the same answer as the OP's friend.

He was intelligent, well-educated, but a little "long in the tooth."

I never thought he lacked social skills, but to each his own.

It did kind of cloud my opinion towards him and I never saw him again after that.

Although I never indulged as he did, I would probably be more forgiving nowadays.

Some people have debated regarding which is more cost-effective,

prostitution or a marriage that ends in divorce - it's probably the former.

If I had the choice (with 20-20 hindsight) of going that route or having

married my now ex-wife, prostitution now seems a little more attractive.
