Oh, he's just patting your husband on the back and sympathizing with him that he has to listen to you in order to have sex. It's a lovely world we live in.

Wow, I just read most of this thread. Some good posts, but also some of the most ridiculous things I have ever read (like comparing prostitution to child abuse. You should have your head examined.).

OP,

Talk about overreacting? You want to end a friendship because the guy sees prostitutes. What business of your is it what he does behind closed doors? On second thought, end the friendship, you'll be doing him a favor. I wouldn't want a judgemental friend like you anyway.

I want to comment on a few things that were brought up in the thread:

low moral character-who says that people who frequent prostitutes are somehow morally corrupt?

legality- the majority of the world is not as the US in terms of this. We are one of the only countries where it is outright illegal. In most countries, it's legal or allowed (even if technically illegal). In the US, we have a bunch of self-righteous fake do-gooders. These people are one way in public, and thne totally different whne the cameras aren't on. They do a lot worse things than any guy who visits hookers.

trafficking- it does exist (i won't deny it), but people associated it to prostitution right away like every prostitute is forced into it. Some people (usually women) can't accept the fact that somebody would actually choose to do this instead of working in a horrible job 40 hours a week for peanuts. And even less would even comprehend the idea that women may actually enjoy having sex a lot or with many guys. To each his own.

cleanliness- most (not all, but most) prostitutes require condoms because they care about their own health as much as the clients.

Why men do it? Read this article: http://www.guardian....use-prostitutes

Guys don't pay for sex, they pay them to leave so they don't have to listen to their bullshit.

Finally, why do some people feel so strongly about things that do not affect their lives in the least. Let others do as they please, as long as it's not hurting or affecting you, mind your own business.

There is so much in this post I find repellent, but if I could pick one item out, it would be that one. Why don't you tell your wife that some time. I bet she'd be tickled to hear your feelings about female conversation.

No Charles it's not. YOU may not understand the implications of his words, but I certainly do. Of course, he may just be playing me for a fool and not hold any of these opinions. I hope to goodness that's the case because the alternative is a nasty, nasty piece of work.

Not the only reason - sort of the last straw. My "friend" is unethical and self-centered.

low moral character-who says that people who frequent prostitutes are somehow morally corrupt?

I say it. The person in question has deep seat issues about women (if you read saywhat's posts - you'll see what I mean). Hence he'd rather use prostitutes than pursue a meaningful relationship (and it's not like he hasn't had offers).

legality- the majority of the world is not as the US in terms of this. We are one of the only countries where it is outright illegal. In most countries, it's legal or allowed (even if technically illegal). In the US, we have a bunch of self-righteous fake do-gooders. If this is supposed to be a counterpoint - which people specifically are you referring to?

trafficking- it does exist (i won't deny it), but people associated it to prostitution right away like every prostitute is forced into it. Some people (usually women) can't accept the fact that somebody would actually choose to do this instead of working in a horrible job 40 hours a week for peanuts. If prostitution isn't legal or subject to regulation, you have no way to know who was forced into and who wasn't. Does the client care about this - or rather does he care to the point where he'd refuse services from the girl? Hard to say, but somehow I think not.

cleanliness- most (not all, but most) prostitutes require condoms because they care about their own health as much as the clients.

Yeah I've read that before.

'I don't get anything out of sex with prostitutes except for a bad feeling,"

Self loathing types...

Guys don't pay for sex, they pay them to leave so they don't have to listen to their bullshit.

So now we go from self-loathing to - men don't want to listen to women's "bullshit". Why do you feel such a strength of feeling that you need to refer to women in such negative terms?

Finally, why do some people feel so strongly about things that do not affect their lives in the least. Let others do as they please, as long as it's not hurting or affecting you, mind your own business.

The guy IS doing what he pleases. I can't stop him from doing it if that's what he wants to do.
