Hello everyone,

Do our spouses need to provide their passport at the time of the interview? According to the appointment package, passport is one of the required document. But I always thought that we can only get the passport after we pass the interview.

I dont know if the rules are different for your country and your embassy, but in general the two items that they check to provide you entry into the Embassy on the day of the Interview are your Original Passport and your Original Interview letter.

She will need to present her VN passport at the time the visa has been approved.. they will then take the passport and tell her to come back in a week to get her passport with the visa in it.. The passport must have a minimum amount of validity (not expiring soon)

Doesnt she have a VN passport? If not.. she needs to get one now...

You can get a passport at any time. you do not need the visa to get a passport. you actually need to get a passport before you get a visa. the consulate actually puts the visa inside the passport. Hope this helps.

Good to know, but I am go tell my wife to get her passport just in case.

Yeah, but they can't issue a visa without a passport. The visa has the passport number printed on it, and the visa is a sticker that's applied directly to a page in the passport.

The passport number and city of issuance are also required on the DS-156 form. The passport and a copy are also listed as required documents in packet 4 for both K and immigrant visas.
