For me, that money is better spent elsewhere. I don't appreciate expensive jewelry. I'd rather have the money in my 401k. Romantic, huh?

I gave the first wife a big 2 1/2 carat "D" color diamond engagement ring. I gave the new wife a small plain 1 carat diamond ring that cost 1/10 the price of the first one. I think the second wife would have been happy with any ring. She gave me a gold colored tungsten ring that I use for my wedding band. I remember how proud she was when she gave it to me. I will never replace this ring. So my story, don't go overboard. It is the idea behind the ring, not the ring.

I got to pick out my ring, and it's only 1/4 carat broken up into accent diamonds. it's a pretty little pretzel twist ring, and I love it. he would have gotten something bigger for me if I has asked it, but it's the symbolism that counts, not the size <3

I don't have an engagement ring, I never wanted one. I like the classic look of a simple gold band around my finger. It also perfectly matches the simple gold band around my husband's finger

This. Plus in Brazil the custom is to buy the gold band and wear it on the right hand. Then the same ring is taken off and put on the left hand on the wedding. We went by my culture and both just have a gold band.

IndigoSkies, do you have an issue with Indonesia? Really, because that's how it looks like. And oh, about 45 years old Americans and their much younger half... that's their business. If that's what they want and what they want is each other, then so be it.

My fiance is 9 years older than me but I have never seen that as a big difference. When it comes to talking about something serious, I can count on him because he is definitely a grown-up and acts like one. I had boyfriends of my age and I was always ahead. I've always wanted to commit, but they were the ones who couldn't. So, sometimes, an age difference shouldn't be an issue. Of course, it doesn't have to be a huge difference... IMO, of course.

I don't have any issues with Indonesia or Indonesians. I was just using it as an example. I didn't want to use Phillipines because there are actually a lot of these cases from Phillipines. I was being diplomatic. Indonesians generally don't aspire to leave their country as much as Fillipas do. There's a documentary show called Vanguard and an episode called "Anywhere but Here." Watch it. It seems like every single person in Phillipines wants to leave the country in any means.

You're failing to see the circumstances of a 45 years old man taking advantage of a poor girl from another country vs falling in love with someone older. But I shall give this a rest as you're not interested in a serious conversation. Good day to you, madam!

She'll answer once she gets out of prison.

 Sorry, IndigoSkies, our friend charles! here... posted something funny. I can't abstain myself from laughing. :P

You don't have to apologise.

I took this comment from a US citizen( if it matters) :

When i see a muslim person on the roads, all dressed up with bed linen,I think to myself ''Sh** we're in trouble !He might have smth bad hidden under that!'' And don't call him a jerk, just like you do not want to be called one.It is just his opinion about what he sees around him, just like You have an opinion. Now YOU judge! :)

Umm... you created a scinario and you projected that I'd judge without asking me if I'd judge or not. Haha. You know me so well. NOT.

Given the recent decades development with terrorism involving Muslims, it's not out of question for you to be fearful of Muslims. Just don't let your fear control you into making bad decisions like jumping off the bridge because you think the Muslim walking next to you might explode any moment.

And I could add that our wedding bands, although just simple gold, were actually crafted with gold from my dad, he has a business of extracting gold, so our gold bands have that special thing that it's gold from the family business, and I got to see it in it's basic form before being melted.
