Choice of Agent (will my wife still receive instruction package)

Hey guys,

I am leaving for Vietnam in September 1 to visit my wife and will stay there for three months. The problem is that I am expecting NOA2 next month. When I receive NOA2, I am going to select my father as my agent--but I am not sure if I should do the same for my wife. If I select my father as her agent, will she still receive her instruction and appointment package from Vietnam consulate? (I am assume the same procedure is the same for other countries too.)

For the DS-3032, it's the BENEFICIARY (Foreign Spouse) that makes the selection of AGENT.

I've not heard of a petitioner making a choice of agent for NVC processing before.

where is her father, exactly ?

The 'agent of choice' usually sends in the DS-230 , and is allowed to make inquiries at the NVC Hotline.

regardless of 'who' the agent of choice is, she'll receive packet 4 with appointment letter and medical exam instructions, directly visa postal mail, from HCMC.

re: your father - sure - why not ? he's in the USA, can do things on her behalf.

please understand, be CLEAR ON ONE THING, yes?

I guess the bottom line, really, is to get things into NVC in a timely fashion, yes?

Before you leave, have the I-864 prepped, give to YOUR father to send out (no agent of choice required for that, btw)

Also make sure the DS-230 is prepped, at some point, stellar with all contents.

No - not at all.

That document, regardless of 'who' the agent is, must have the APPLICANT's signature.

Suggest you do what my buddy Sachinky suggests to all -

1. YOU leave 5 sets of signed I-864 with your father

2. SHE sends 5 sets of signed DS-230 to yer father

'scans on signature' not acceptable. - I suggest ya use BLUE ink.

Yes, because the governement has been known to lose paperwork. Additionally, if there are any mistakes or ommissions on the original submission, your father would be able to add the missing information and submit a new "signed" form on your wife's behalf.
