Hello everyone,

This is my first post here, here is my dilemma:

I had my lawyer put in my application for adjustment of status based on 245(i) Life act (i have an approved I-130 from my sister with priority date from dec 2000)

I went to the lawyer's office and signed all the forms, but never really took the time to check everything (my own fault).

I did get a copy of the package my lawyer sent in after the fact, and realized there were many typos on different forms.

I will list them and would like advise/sugestions as to what outcome could come from it:

Typos on I-485:

1)incorrect zip code on my address

2)on box under part 3 saying: "give your name exactly as it appears on your form I-94, Arrival-Departure Record" - my first name was incorrect spelled (which ends up being different than name on my I-94 by 1 letter)

3)missing my phone number on daily phone number next to my printed name

Typos on I-485 Supplement A (for 245(i))

1)"first name" box has both my first name and middle name in it ("Middle name" box has my middle name)

2)incorrect zip code on my address

Typos on I-765:

1)Incorrect Zip code on my address

Typos on I-864 (affidavit of support):

1)My sponsor's first name (which is my sister and the petitioner for my AOS) on both part 1 and part 4 of the form are incorrect (lawyer put her last name from previous marriage instead of her first name - because of that the name does not match tax return copy sent with forms)

2)"first name" box has both my first name and middle name in it ("Middle name" box has my middle name)

3)Incorrect Zip code on my address

4)Household size was entered as 2 but should have been 3 (she is married) (her income is above 125% of poverty line with 2 or 3 people in the household)

Can these thing be fixed, will I get a denial (I am specially concern with the typos on the affidavit of support), or an RFE. Will I have to re-apply (and have to pay the hefty fee of 2010.00), I am really worried about this.

Please let me know what you think.

(By the way the errors are on the forms, all the documentation supporting them are correct and everything else matches (documents to other documents, etc)

thanks in advance

Wow. The first thing you should do is part ways with that lawyer and ask for a refund of the fees your paid.

How can there be this many mistakes?

You may get an RFE, assuming the incorrect zipcode doesn't cause undeliverable mail.

Might want to fill out form AR-11 with USCIS to correct/update you address just in case. You can do this online.

They may simply reject (not a denial, which is a different thing) your application and just return the whole package that was sent, in which case you can just re-send the package with corrected forms.

If they have already received your forms and given you case numbers, you may want to make an infopass appt to make all the necessary corrections. I would say make an infopass appt ASAP, but I'm not sure if you are able to without actual case numbers.

Good luck!

thanks for the quick reply

I was surprised with how many mistakes were made too, The lawyer didn't actually do the filing, his paralegal did.

The good thing about the zip code is that we both (myself and the lawyer) will get copies so if my is undelivered I told them to contact me as soon as they get their NOA copy.

the AR-11 is a great idea, I totally didn't think about that. thanks for letting me know :)

I think the rejection would be good so that i can fix all and send it back. If it goes in I can only think it will take longer to process due to fixing all the errors, The only think I don't want to get is a denial.

I haven't received a case number yet (application was sent 5 days ago) so if the application goes in, as soon as i get it I will work on trying to get an infopass appointment to fix all the mistakes.

Again thanks for the reply engneer21, that helps alot

I will keep updates as to where it goes from here

thanks again

First, as stated by Engineer you will NOT get denied because of these errors because it's most likely they won't even notice at first... They just make your life a little difficult.

The I-864 will need to be fixed... the incorrect household size could get you into shite.

I think you should make an infopass appointment (here: https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php ). Tell them that your lawyer is truly incompetent and outline the errors. Go to the Infopass with the corrected documents. Hopefully they can force your parcel to be RFE'd or something so you can fix the documents.

The infopass is your best option I think. I also agree that you should NOT pay the full fees for the paralegal as you have to now fix the mistakes. If they say you didn't proof them good enough, tell them that you assumed that having the info in FRONT of the paralegal meant no mistakes. You're not asking for a full refund, but a partial one due to your now having to chase your tail to fix it all.
