ss office cant find hubby in system, help!

welll we went to ss office and they said they cant find my hsband in the system, we waited 2 weeks befor we went to get his ssn, now they said they will resubmit his application and try again and we will hear from them in 4 weeks,,, who can i call to find out why my husband is nnot in the system as of now? thanks,, oh hes here on cr1 visa

Did he check off on the DS-230 that he wanted to be assigned an SSN? If he did he needs to allow 21 days before going into an SSA office to apply. Otherwise he could possibly wind up with two number if the office lets him submit an application before then

There is no one to call to check up on the status of an SSN application. If he applied at the office he needs to keep going back into the office to make sure the office is submitting the verification steps on time and check to see if they have received a response.

That happened to my husband too. I heard different reasons for it.

First they said it was because JFK was so big that they wait a couple of days before they send the paperwork in to homeland security and does a bulk shipment.

Then the SS office said they couldn't find him because of the 2 last names.

Finally they did find him, and it was AFTER he got his green card with BOTH last names on there. He then got his social secruty number but it only had his very last name on there.

MAKE SURE HIS SOCIAL SECURITY NAME MATCHES HIS GREEN CARD!!! If the social security has anything different than the green card, FILL OUT A NEW APPLICATION!!

We have been doing the run around for what....3 months now??? He finally got his new social security card with all his names on there to match his green card!!! :bonk: what a mess!!!
