DCF submission of I-130 package

To those of you who have done DCF (I'm especially interested in hearing from London DCFers, but DCFers in general are welcome to share their experiences), did you include a cover letter with your I-130 package?

I'd like us to include a short one, but I'm concerned about London's firm instructions not to include any extra documents, plus there will be their checklist that has to go to the top of the package.

I think they mean they don't want photos, proof of income, etc....things they don't need for this step. While a cover letter probably isn't necessary, people send them to London all the time with their K visa documents. I seriously doubt if they would reject you over a cover letter. Most people include a cover letter listing what is in the packet. It seems like the checklist takes care of that nicely.

There is the checklist indeed (and we are required to submit it) as we're doing a CR-1. I've no idea if there's a similar checklist for K visas, but if not, I can see the point in people including a cover letter stating what documents they've included.

I guess what I'm trying to find out is if people doing DCF (thus only marriage-based visas) include a cover letter in addition to the mandatory checklist. On second thought of course, I can see how this can make it an overkill. Not for a rejection, but for delaying the application maybe.
