I like this idea. Then again, you know many on the conservative fringe will accuse such a government of being too large...

Wouldn't it have been interested, in light of what you just stated, if Obama had actually put forward that kind of a program in the face of the recession we just went through?

Heck, the pay could even have been better than unemployment 'benefits.' And, of course, voluntary for beneficiaries.

I would go for it in a modified way. Once your normal benefits ran out I would go for a temp government job to continue to help the unemployed. As long as it had a definate stop date after which the program was over for that person and at the same time had some sort of training to help this person find a job I would agree with it.

Indeed, I like this.

Isn't that what the census thing was?

It's kinda ironic for a lot of folks to criticize the unemployed because they can't find a Job, when they are sitting nicely at work or behind a desk and keep making all kind of negative remarks. Just remember life is B!tch, I am happy that you can be sitting nicely getting your paycheck but keep in mind you never know when you might be on the other side.

There are always exception but I don't think you'll find too many people who would rather stay at home than going to work if the Job is there.

Tax Break to the middle class= Add up to the deficit

Tax Break to the upper Rich Class don't add up to the deficit?

Laying off thousand of workers for cost cutting and getting $million in reward for shipping american Job overseas, and avoiding paying your fare share of taxes, ask warren buffet?

Laid off workers trying to get unemployment while looking for Jobs that CEO sent overseas= Ah just Bump whose not looking hard enough for work

It's kinda so disdain to hear the polarity of the same scerario as if One if from Mars and the Other is from Venus, arent' we all american?

We have money to build school in Iraq, Spending $billions there and in Afghanistan and NO money for unemployment? What about Our school where's our foreing aid?

$billion in Foreign Aid to other countries to build their infrastructure while ours are crumbling, where our foreign AID?

$billion of out TAX $$$ to Deutchbank(german bank) as part of the bail out while the homeowners get GIFF!! Where's the american people Foreign AID coming from?(The Wall Street Journal, citing a confidential document and people familiar with the matter, reported that Goldman Sachs and Deutsche Bank each got about $6 billion in payments between the middle of September and December last year)

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE52624P20090308

I wish someone can explain me how giving out $6billions to a german Bank can helped to easin off the housing crisis? The brainwashed and the media tend the portray the problem as ONLY THE HOMEOWNER was responsible, whereas the Banks were so naive and are so innocent reaping off Billions in profit during those time. I've seen it 1st hand from personal experience how the bank can screw people up, Along with the Appraiser they Jake up the housing prices to reap off Billions in profit, like others will say, the homeowner, the middle class is the only one that's responsible.

Gone but not Forgotten!

By the traditional, technical definition of a recession - it is over and has been for a while. We have seen many quarters of positive growth, a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth.

Positive growth propped up by ballooning debt is a sham.

I dont mean anything as comprehenzive as The CCC but if there were a requirement that everyone recieving the benefit perform some form of civic duty... could be picking up litter, sweeping and area of town, pulling weeds, ... who knows... it aint slave labor if they are getting a check in return for the service... say 20 hours of service for each week of benefits... thats a decent wage of sorts...

ACLU would fight it... they would consider it some form of slavery or coherced labor...

Can you imagine what would happen if Obama brought up a new form of CCC?

There should be some form of skills training for youth that cant afford to go to college... give them the skills they need to perform the jobs that need to be done.. green energy jobs skills or something like that.... this tight economy can be a good thing for the country if people look at things more realistic that if they were in MTV cribs or some Paris Hilton wannabe... everything for years has been "dream house" mansion high life etc...
